Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

If it was a rapid test, Philippe, you need to either repeat it, or get a PCR.

I'll have what Willie's smoking.

I absolutely love that that Willie Nelson song. But unlike Willie, I love to tell the world when I'm suffering.

  2:15pm dan:

The Song Remains The Same is a good musical film, but as an Avant-Garde piece of filmmaking, it's rather mediocre. Too many fantasy sequences to really enjoy it overall.

laser zeppelin... I think I have heard about that @). what is that like?
  2:21pm dan:

Gregg Allman was about 20 when this came out, but he sounds like he's 40 on this record.
  2:23pm davefromtoronto:

it was amazing - it was done in the toronto Planetarium - where they normally do astronomy shows on a round screen that took up the whole ceiling. anyone from toronto remember that?

@davefrom TO > I think I might have seen laser Floyd at the McLaughlin Planetarium, before it turned into a de-funded derelict dome...unless that was earlier, in Winnipeg at that planetarium. Seems like a weird thing to do now, but I enjoyed it then...like a cat with a laser pen...and Floyd

Avatar 2:38pm Flimflamfilmnoir:

This sounds like early Elvis C., heard him a few years ago in Chicago and his voice was not up to this level back then. Good stuff!
Avatar 2:39pm WLSClark:

New Elvis!! Sounding like classic Elvis!

“If the record sounded swell as a trio, Steve Nieve’s organ was the icing on the cake, the cherry, and the little silver balls,” Costello said.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Pedro in Arlington:

I've listened many times to Michael Shelley's interview with Bruce Thomas. Really went into some great detail about Costello and the band's sound. Bruce's bass is irreplaceable.
Avatar 2:43pm WLSClark:

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Uncle Michael:

Bruce was great. Danny is great.
  2:43pm Marie:

I love Jose. I was by his house (drove by) in CT, visiting friends, on New Years day. They said he plays locally sometimes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Franco Twinkie:

Elis Costello is a living example of someone who didn't stick to the plan and lost his way. But I guess he followed the bread crumbs out of the dark forest, and VIOLA!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Uncle Michael:

I like his circuitous route!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes Michael, but he's best when he's spitting bile.
Avatar 2:45pm StringOFperils:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Franco Twinkie:

SoP. Did you every hear Bo Diddly Goes Surfing?
Avatar 2:49pm StringOFperils:

Probably not, Franco. A lot that I haven't heard: WFMU is a testimonial to that.
  2:50pm Marie:

I think the best artists evolve and change and their work reflects it, hopefully
Avatar 2:51pm WLSClark:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Franco Twinkie:

Well, on paper the concept sounded amazing - Bo Diddly playin surf music. But in actuality it was incomprehensibly dull. How, why? Goodness knows.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Uncle Michael:

I miss Rick Parfitt.
Avatar 2:56pm WLSClark:
