This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

an early draft of this set tonight had a track from the new live Can album, which closes with a pretty thunderous instrumental rendition of Vitamin C. but i was seduced by this (inevitably superior) live '73 version with Damo, which i don't think i played on that Can live show

Avatar 9:26pm

Hi Jon! you know what, I barely know any Lou Harrison and you've got me resolving to fix that immediately
  9:28pm
Jon:

A lot of his music is based on simple scales and is super intuitive sounding, like he’s kinda “jamming out” these relaxing sonic tapestries. He’s also very sensitive to the instruments he uses and I feel like he just had a great ear for timbre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm

I remember playing some chamber music by Lou Harrison in college, I wish I could remember the name of the piece, lol. It was a small group. Vibraphone, flute, piano, maybe violin? I’ve heard some of his larger ensembles and was really impressed. He also has like a “duo” composition with John cage that is interesting and radical for its time.
