hey jgeis! thanks for tuning in Wenzo Todd! Daniel B - alright!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
Dennis Diken:

@Kevin - indeed! on that WCBS FM interview he gave out his phone #! @myron - Gus Gossert's show was the bomb! there were several other NYC doo wop shows on the air in the early 70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gene C - I knew more about doo wop in 1971 than I do now - I forget most of what I learned back then! there were so many scholarly programs and I ate it all up! there was another college radio show with Bobby-O and Jivin' Joe, which I dug.
Avatar 2:53pm

Denny - loving your selections today - thanks

Gene C:

The mostly wonderful "Wrecking Crew" documentary unfortunately left the wrong impression on too many casual fans regarding Beach Boys sessions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gene C - indeed, The Beach Boys played on so many of their own seminal sessions - and David Marks' playing was integral to their early sound

It's pretty difficult if not impossible to pull off a cover of "I'm So Young" but Brian and the Boys sure did.
  3:16pm
Jon Graboff:

@Gene C - listening to the isolated vocals, I had this immediate reaction that it was Sonny's voice. I tend to trust those first impressions… sometimes!

Love The Beach Boys version of Can’t Marry No One. Thanks for honoring a truly extraordinary artist Dennis!

One of the many things that I found so cool about Ronnie is that she kept her fandom of acts like The Students and The Teenagers burning with just as much passion in adulthood that she had for them as a kid.

great show Dennis!

“When you see a Kubrick movie, you tell me how many times you immediately remember the cast,” he told Melody Maker in 1977. “One? Two? It’s the same with Fellini, and that’s what I wanted to do when I directed a recording. Singers are instruments. They are tools to be worked with.”
