the first LP I ever spent my allowance on was the greatest hits, The Buddy Holly Story. I don't remember Buddy when he was alive. I was too young. But I do remember DJs saying "the late, great Buddy Holly". Probably 1960.

Mom, I don't remember! I sort of wish I did. I sort of wish I'd heard Little Richard in his prime. I was vaguely aware of Elvis Presley. I was a good age for the Beatles but the 50s...very hazy for me at the time. Of course I've gone and listened to as much as I can so I know it pretty well but it's different than hearing it at the time.
