Good evening!

Great to hear you again Fox, I listened to your Batman show on Saturday while donating platelets.
  3:11am
Gnomon:

Oooh Dune and Terminator in the same sentence
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11am
Scott67:

I have the BMF cd Fox & someone played the PJ Harvey track today, can't recall who. I listen to too much!
👍😎

I hate those "smart speakers". Surveillance crap. My dad has one of those and uses it all the time. It seems like it's keyed to his voice, and doesn't listen to me even though our voices are very similar (to a human ear anyway). So a DJ on the radio can't give commands to Ol' What's-Her-Face against the owner's will... I think?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21am
Scott67:

G'day Ike, I don't get people's trust in them, let alone their reliance?
I have every Audio/Video/Location apps turned off on all my devices.
Avatar 3:22am
Fox:

Blabberwoofies! We have a name now? That kinda works.
Avatar 3:23am
Fox:

Gnomon - You get me. i go on and on about the Butlerain Jihad needing to arrive soon, and most give me blank stares.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23am
Paulo AD:

HIya Fox
Avatar 3:24am
Fox:

This one kinda reminds me of David Lynch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28am
fred:

@Ike: I vaguely recall that burglars would just yell "Siri/Alexa, open the door" and gain access this way. Another example of automation devaluing skills
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29am
Scott67:

I was inspired by Jabberwocky Fox.
👍😎
Avatar 3:33am
Fox:

fred - Wow! Brilliant!!

David Shortell:

I went to Tierney's Tavern (136-138 Valley Rd, Montclair, NJ) a couple of weekends ago, for the first time in years. It seems like a nice place, but I've only been on the second floor for performances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48am
ike̶̬̕:

@fred, oh really?! Holy crapola! Were those earlier versions and that's why they're now keyed to only one particular voice?
  3:51am
Gnomon:

It’s “no-mon” like a sundial
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52am
Scott67:

Hey thanks fro Australia Fox!
👍😎
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55am
fred:

@Ike: yeah, early versions. The story might be BS (probably is), but I kinda like the idea of rich tools getting robbed out of foolish trust in tech
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57am
i̺k̺e̺:

Is the Butlerian Jihad a type of singularity?

Did we already pass through the algorithmic social media singularity without realizing it? Instead of real AI, the force is the algorithm and its relentless, mindless drive towards profit via destructiveness, as Mark Hurst has explained. Although that may be a kind of AI for all I know. Unregulated libertarian vampire AI.

I'm on a disability Pension in Australia, it's bellow the poverty wage too, but no food stamps..
What is so scary about a living wage. We'd fucken spend it in the "economy" like "real" people.
Australia did exactly tha, jack welfare for the suddenly pandemic poor people. But strait back to a punitive handout now.
Thank you Sir, I'm not worthy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04am
fred:

Ike, that AI would sure pass the Turing test: "mindless drive towards profit via destructiveness" would make it indistinguishable from your average CEO/chairman/pol
Avatar 4:16am
Fox:

Scott - that's the most maddening thing. Poor people SPEND their money and help the economy. Rich people hide it away off shore and hoard it.
Avatar 4:16am
Fox:

Especially with Food Stamps, as it makes people have to only spend their money on FOOOOD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20am
Scott67:

Thanks Fox, that was great!
Avatar 4:21am
David Shortell:

I never heard of Frankie Moon, but there is a fine NJ act called Francie Moon (franciemoon.bandcamp.com) that I saw a couple of times in 2019.
I haven't heard from the group since, but apparently the singer/guitarist of the same name is now the drummer for Gustaf (gustaftheband.com).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22am
Scott67:

Spot on Fox!! Our Economy survived because people had money to "spend" during the height of the Pandemic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23am

We love you Fox!!✌😎❤
