Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from February 25, 2022 Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

I do love this floyd

In the eighties, when industrial drew attention to Comte de Lautréamont and Les Chants de Maldoror in particular I remember a friend of mine reading and saying all she could think of the whole time was "now is the time on Sprockets when we dance". The apex of Michael Myers, better than Wayne's World, even

me too, Babs - while the other kids were yammering on about Dark Side of The Wall, I just kept playing "Meddle."

Rich in Washington:

It made SNL have to play Kraftwerk, so there's that.

Rich in Washington:

This whole box set is amazing. This is perhaps my favorite Floyd album. Lots of demos and live sets and outtakes.

Mr Fab:

"Echoes" - the riff that Andrew Lloyd Weber swiped for "Phantom of the Opera."

No way? Really? I had no idea!

I'm all about Barrett, Gilmour is a great guitar player and evidently Fariuza Balk's father in law, Waters' narcissism bugs me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
Rich in Washington:

Not a huge fan of Waters' dominant Floyd although wore out cassettes of The Wall as a teen. What a goof.
Avatar 10:46pm
Mr Fab:

yes Rich and Waters is PISSED about it.

Tho as ultradamno alluded to, Waters is generally pissed off about everything nowadays.

Also, my first time was soundtracked by Relics. When it was over the girl said "this music is terrible"

I love Steadman's cartoons in the movie, which made seeing the movie at the time worth it.

there are moments of the wall that are great...for sure but I'm deginitely a meddle kinda gal. I do love wish you were here and animals tho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Rich in Washington:

I reckon my Waters era Floyd phase was akin to a Goth phase at that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Rich in Washington:

I need to listen to Animals again. It's been decades.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
DJ Babs:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm

yeah, this is fun stuff. Not usually a fan of bloated reissue packages but for this album this is all welcome.

Zipperhead7:

Well, ol' Zip comes gimping in from a family obligation, boots up th' box and hears David Gilmour screaming away. Haven't heard Meddle in about three decades. I like the Syd days; after that, a Can fan. Rawjuh Waters is pretty insufferable. Speaking of "fabulous drum sounds," Sandy Nelson RIP. "Birth of the Beat" is kinda fun with rain and dinosaur roaring

Love Syd and his solo stuff to some extent but love the mid period, post Syd Floyd as well.

“I suppose I always saw Animals as more of a punk album,” Nick Mason said in 2019. Not long after its release, Mason would be producing The Damned at Britannia Row."

One thing that was always fun to do back in the day was to sit back and flange tape reels. Whoosh!
