Hi Dennis and all! can't chat much due to work, but listening!

Gerry from Miami:

Aw gee, Denny! You gotta split early? Been a few weeks since I've been able to listen in. Was just watching Rick Beato on YouTube do a breakdown analysis of Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." Great song that's somewhat more structurally dense than it seems once you uncover the layers of complexity. I can see, so far, that your song choices today will probably be more basic and visceral than that 80s classic. Tears for Fears, BTW, has just released their first album in 17 years! Lovin' the immediacy of your show, as always!
  2:13pm
Gerry from Miami:

Hey, woo and MOM WHIG! Great to see you guys!

Thanks Gerry from Miami - good luck with the album! Welcome, LesleyK!

Great to hear Steve Alaimo! He was radio royalty here in Miami when I was growing up in Ft. Lauderdale. "Every Day I Have to Cry Some" was a charttopper for him on WQAM-560.

Dennis Diken:

@Gerry - love me some Alaimo!

This Acklin tune is actually "Soulful Strut" by Young-Holt Unlimited, right, Todd-o-Phonic Todd?

Yes, same backing track

Sadly, the Exciters never came close to duplicating their great success with "Tell Him." First just the three ladies, then they added a male member

@Todd That must have been an amazing gig!

Gerry from Miami:

Whenever I hear Del Shannon, I always think of the first song I ever heard by him, "Hat's Off to Larry." And, of course, Del's passing just as he was about to replace Roy Orbison in the Traveling Wilburys. Would have made a great addition to the band.

This Cowsills album, Global, is outstanding. What a voice on Susan.
  3:49pm
Gerry from Miami:

Had a friend in college who idolized the Searchers. I would run into him on campus, the latest issue of NME tucked tightly under his arm. He usually had a bag of British imported 45s as well. He would regale me about all the latest happenings in Engiand's pop scene. I had scant money to buy records in those days, but he generously played his precious discs for me in his dorm room. It was a great opportunity to supplement Beatlemania and the super-repetitive playlists on Philadelphia Top 40 stations at that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm
Andrew in Toronto:

Thanks for the awesome show!!
