Howdy Doc! Hey WR and fredr!!

Doug Schulkind:

Most DJ premiums are collections of assorted separate tracks. DJ Nogoodnick's premium does the mixing for you, with tracks stitched together. It's like you get your own tiny little DJ working tiny wheels of steel inside the premium!

Nobody but me will know the song I was quoting (most likely), from a Tom Chapin kid's album...

Yes! His most radio-friendly track. If it didn't come out in 2020 I think it might have been a big summer jam

Speaking of which, cover art for the premium!!

Check out all the asterisks on the playlist. An * indicates a new selection. You are exposed to a ton of new music on Electric Lazy Susan. Something the sets this show apart from a majority of other shows on the Drummer Stream. Something worth pledging for...

djnogoodnick:

Pledge $20 before the bottom of the hour to enter to win Thundercat's "It Is What It Is" or Art Feynmann's "Half Price at 3:30" on vinyl!! (specify which)

Welcome aboard, zzz! Great to zee you again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm
doctorjazz:

Jazz fusion has become accepted; in the 70s jazz snobs (like me) heard a funky electric piano on a jam and shook our heads. But it seems to have come back, and I'm listening to it with open ears and digging it!

@zzz, thanks, didn't seem to be soprano sax Steve Lacy (but I've been surprised on this show before with players I associated with a totally different context).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
doctorjazz:

I'm going to have to go for now, thanks Nogoodnick and Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
zzz:

@docjazz i listen to something like miles’ tribute to jack johnson and herbie hancock thundering in with the organ over that straight up rock and must’ve turned heards. hell, a lot of herbie’s electric piano on filles de kilimanjaro from before silent way/bitches brew is downright gnarly
Avatar 8:13pm
djnogoodnick:

Thanks Doc!! Always great to see you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
doctorjazz:

@zzz, there was always cool, "accepted" fusion back then (Miles, Ornette, Early Weather Report) and not so accepted fusion (Spyrogyra, Grover Washington, later George Benson). Of course, I mean acceptance by critics and jazz snobs-I'm sure George Benson outsold the "accepted" fusion by tons (except Miles, who always had his own rules).

(leaving meant getting up-still working on that... Just so cozy, the chair, the sounds...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
zzz:

i will jam Breezin’ and Mister Magic forever. later docjazz
Avatar 8:23pm
djnogoodnick:

Yes, Doc! I always had a much more jammy, less cool notion of "jazz fusion" growing up that kept me from investigating / embracing it more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm
zzz:

always a joy whenever Laraaji shows up on anything
Avatar 8:25pm

@zzz This *just* dropped and I'm so excited!! Whole album soon from JCK, not sure how much Laraaji is involved.
