Mr Fab:

thanks, i am feeling a bit peckish!

Where's Galardo's, north of the Arctic Circle somewhere?
Avatar 1:03pm
Otis:

Galardo's is here for the next three hours only. After it will appear in...

Hi Sondy and Fab and to all those arriving.

My hippie big sister used to like this show for the 'philosophy.'

I just liked seeing king fu dudes goin' off.

Morricone Youth! Feat. WFMU's own Devin E Levin.

Who or what exactly are they worshipping here?
Avatar 1:42pm
Otis:

Probably a roll of unused toilet paper Fab.
Avatar 1:45pm

That was a devout mess! LOL

And that was an ode to a roll of a back wiper sermon, wiping clean now with DCD.

Hi Dom & Rich!

Slowtis, are you running just the black cartridge on today's playlist to save bandwidth? Very Earth Day of you.
Avatar 1:54pm
Otis:

Yes I am!
Avatar 1:55pm
Mr Fab:

Actually Rich, this is a rerun of an episode from the '30s, when all radio was in black-in-white.
Avatar 1:57pm
Mr Fab:

"Slow Transit" starts an hour earlier now. Mark your calendars! Tell Alexa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm

Is this the aircheck of the classic episode interrupted by the announcement that the Javanese bombed Minnie Pearl?

everyone try to type along...

Domenik go slow:

this JJP track is lovely

That's a great Terry Jacks song! I don't think I've ever heard anything by him other than Seasons in the Sun.
Avatar 2:31pm
Otis:

That album and Susan Jacks 1st solo recorded right about the same time as Poppy's 2nd album are both gems. Just found a nice copy of that Jacks album last month in a bin, really so good side tracks on there.
Avatar 2:35pm
Mr Fab:

i just knew the naughty b side to "Seasons in the Sun": "Put The Bone In."

Yes enjoy the birdies

The Laibach / Neue Slowenische Kunst documentary Predictions of Fire is wonderful to sleep to. Very Dada. I think the director Michael Benson has it on his Vimeo stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
Rich in Washington:

So, just the other day was clued into a strange record phenomenon I was previously unaware of: high school records. Just ambient recordings of a given high school. The guy who introduced me to it says it's mainly a Southern thing, and the high schools put them out as a kind of souvenir to graduating students. So weird. I am thinking of borrowing a few from him and ripping them. Ever hear of this?
Avatar 2:44pm
Mr Fab:

I think "Plastic Laminator" would be an early '80s New Wave synth-pop band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Rich in Washington:

This is beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
Rich in Washington:

I am relatively unfamiliar with Julie London's output. Used to see her records often whilst digging in the 80s and 90s but I suspect she's become collectable.
I can't help thinking of the Peter Bagge strip about Julie in either Hate or Neat Stuff.
Avatar 3:01pm
Carmichael:

Ha! Aaron just played Julie London singing Yummy Yummy Yummy. Heya Otis and folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm

I now refuse to buy new vinyl for environmental reasons! There's just so much old gems to be bought anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
Rich in Washington:

I quit record store day when it became such a greedy grabfest and full of a bunch of wankers who just discovered that records were a thing.
Avatar 3:18pm
HyperDose:

If vinyl pisses the do-gooders off, can't wait until someone tells them what CDs are made of!
Avatar 3:20pm
Sonderangebot:

So many old CDs to buy anyway! And for so cheap!
Avatar 3:21pm
Otis:

Hell yea CDs, so cheap. Just created this site for friends, lauched last month in MTL, dcdcd.ca...
Avatar 3:22pm
HyperDose:

Way cool, Otis! I used to buy penny CDs from DJs on Ebay years ago. Good way to fill in those discographies and catch up on stuff I missed from my younger years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
chresti:

Hi Otis and Sonderangebot and slo-mo-ers!
I buy used cds, we have plenty of vinyl in need of the turntable that needs a needle etc etc
Avatar 3:26pm
Sonderangebot:

hi chresti, and hi to your cd collection and to your lonely vinyl in need.
Avatar 3:26pm
Otis:

Hi HyperD, chresti, Carm and folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
Sem:

Hey, Otis, and those in slow transit. Lurking and listening, slowly.
Avatar 3:26pm
HyperDose:

Hey chresti! And to answer your earlier inquiry at the end of Aaron's show, yes there's another almond milk shortage. Unsweetened original is a hot commodity these days!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Rich in Washington:

This is such a cool album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
chresti:

Hy HyperD, I noticed a similar shortage with chocolate flavored milks in the past. Not sure if it's the source of chocolate issue or something else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Rich in Washington:

I love CDs. I think my office might let me have our CD mass duper. We haven't had to crank out CDRs or DVDRs in several years (usually my job). In fact, no one in the entire office has any kind of optical drive whatsoever.
Avatar 3:37pm
Mr Fab:

That'd be cool Rich. Start your own label!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
Rich in Washington:

I was sort of inspired by that CD label Creel Pone. I was going to put out a series called Sounds Of American Kooks on my fake label Unabom Records. I did create tiny handfuls of them on the sly at work and distributed them to KBOO DJs, etc.
Avatar 3:41pm
HyperDose:

I found it better to buy an external DVD writer and velcro it to the top of the PC case. The cheap internal tower units are dust havens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
Rich in Washington:

That's what I have here at home. Just an external which I switch out as it wears out. The units are still fairly cheap.
I still create a fair amount of CDs out of convenience.
Avatar 3:47pm
Domenik go slow:

Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm

Thanks, Slowtis! Lovely show today!
Avatar 3:49pm

Thank you, Otis. You're always such a lovely and gracious host!
