The notion of European unity is being dismantled by agencies beyond my control, and when nationalism and demonizaton of others takes root there again, as it IS and already has, it tends, historically at least, to turn the whole world into the big bonfire of the insanities.

	9:51am DJpeterDE: Re: Bloom-Helias, this album might be better than last year’s. I believe this was again recorded remotely, so the apund is attributable in part to Helias’s mixing skills and in part to good mix-ing. (New album doesn’t say for sure if it was recorded same way as first.)

I don't really know, but I kinda doubt that chien chaud is a thing...it's more likely commonplace Franglais that goes something like OT DOG. Like "Donne moi un ot dog." (Where also the moi is not pronounced MWAH, as in Paris, but is in fact pronounced MOY.)

	🥁 10:14am doctorjazz: DJpeterDE @ 9:51-from the bandcamp notes on the Helias-Bloom album, seems they recorded in the same place. This music was recorded in multiple sessions over several months in 2021-22. It was done at Chateau Beyond Studio in upstate NY. The mixing and mastering was completed at Radio Legs Music in NYC. The pieces were collaboratively improvised and we allowed ourselves the freedom to just be with the music and create the sound as the moment moved us. It comes on the heels of our first duo release “Some Kind of Tomorrow” in 2020. It’s hard to put into words how extraordinary it feels to collaborate with a musician who you can coax composition out of the air with. It’s exhilarating, it’s dangerous, it’s like jumping off the high board and it’s our way. Mark Helias & Jane Ira Bloom

The notion of European unity is being dismantled by agencies beyond my control, and when nationalism and demonizaton of others takes root there again, as it IS and already has, it tends, historically at least, to turn the whole world into the big bonfire of the insanities.

	9:51am DJpeterDE: Re: Bloom-Helias, this album might be better than last year’s. I believe this was again recorded remotely, so the apund is attributable in part to Helias’s mixing skills and in part to good mix-ing. (New album doesn’t say for sure if it was recorded same way as first.)
	9:52am StringOFperils: You know, Franco, my familiarity with Montreal and Quebec in general reflects the Canadian notion of 'two solitudes'. I don't really know, but I kinda doubt that chien chaud is a thing...it's more likely commonplace Franglais that goes something like OT DOG. Like "Donne moi un ot dog." (Where also the moi is not pronounced MWAH, as in Paris, but is in fact pronounced MOY.)

	🥁 10:14am doctorjazz: DJpeterDE @ 9:51-from the bandcamp notes on the Helias-Bloom album, seems they recorded in the same place. This music was recorded in multiple sessions over several months in 2021-22. It was done at Chateau Beyond Studio in upstate NY. The mixing and mastering was completed at Radio Legs Music in NYC. The pieces were collaboratively improvised and we allowed ourselves the freedom to just be with the music and create the sound as the moment moved us. It comes on the heels of our first duo release “Some Kind of Tomorrow” in 2020. It’s hard to put into words how extraordinary it feels to collaborate with a musician who you can coax composition out of the air with. It’s exhilarating, it’s dangerous, it’s like jumping off the high board and it’s our way. Mark Helias & Jane Ira Bloom
