Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Of course - 9 is the highest single digit. In numerology, you keep adding numbers together til you get a single digit - so 9 is the most! It is therefore the highest & most philosophical & spiritual number in that sense... Any number plus itself equals 9 if you keep adding digits... Any multiple of 9 =s nine if you keep adding the digits...

Rather, any number plus 9 =s 9 I mean to say...

@WLSClark: Well of course - I Don't Mind.
...Both multiples of communicative 3... Like Virgo is the 6th sign, 6 implies Service - whereas the 9th sign is Sagittarius & like that sign is just going for it in terms of Vision...
John Lennon for instance was famously born on a 9th day of the month - but his birthday added up to 6, & he was a craftsman & very concerned with his duty to humanity creatively, I would say...

My bride and I have enough troubles when we have to share a car. My car is a mint condition 2013 (well, was...), not a scratch on it. 9 is the best number of gears on a cassette hub. 6 and 7 speed freewheels were great. 8 was enough, but not quite all there yet. 10 and up are persnickety to adjust, though I've read that the chains are actually stronger. But 9? The last generation of total Shimano compatibility. Mix and match road and MTB. Shift friction if you like. Stuff keeps working, needs no special tools, doesn't cost a lot, and can be got almost anywhere. Shimano 9-speed forever.
