"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Fuzzy:

Just imaging trying to play along with real sticks on a drumpad -- my wrists hurt just thinking about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm steveo:

Amazing but true Chuk:

"The raga, for example, is a musical composition but actually it is seen as a living organism in continuous evolution, comparable to a biological species in which every rhythmic and melodic formula is a cell or organ of the creature. The composition is the result of this living, breathing, collective oral tradition. I think that Fantas Variations incarnates this vision. It is a celebration of the transmutability of music, and within this transmutability I wanted it to experience a collective, horizontal dimension that is also very intimate and affective. It is a work of support and co-creation, which I find is beneficial in this moment of isolation, and which transcends the usual functional and strategic use of remixes."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm fred:

Not a raga thing, but I met a member of La Novia a couple of weeks ago and told him about Bryce's accident. He remembered him from an unusual big order he got from the US
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm chris in the redwoods:

thank you, Jason! please scream on my behalf as well.
Avatar 12:49pm abbazabba:

Yeah, go Jason! Luka, I think he'll be okay as guns are ironically banned from the NRA rally
Avatar 12:49pm Mike W:

John i guess this is a request so, sorry bout that but, can you play something for scared dogs that will drown out the tornadic activity in my vector please?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm ChukAmok:

Gosh do I despise irony...and hypocrisy too, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm ChukAmok:

...Gun humpers perhaps most of all.

Me too, ChukAmok
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm fred:

I read that Don McLean canceled his NRA appearance. Did they get in touch with Andy to fill-in?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Handy Haversack:

Hey, JA, J'All. Been listening in the car while waiting out the parking cops. Sounding good, JA (when I was parked in the sun; easing into the shade messed with the signal? FM -- mystery!).

This very nice, jah

Hi. Looking forward to JA in the Thursday AM time slot for the summer.
Swag For Life Member 1:27pm bk845:

10W-40 will increase your oil pressure if your engine calls for something like 5W-30
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm fred:

I think I'll have a few weeks at first when I think hearing JA means it's Friday and it's not. I'll get it eventually
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm steveo:

I changed my clocks back early and I already feel like today is Thursday.
Avatar 1:36pm John Allen:

bk845: I get that part. i just have no idea what my mechanic puts in the car -it's a don't ask don't tell sorta thing we have going on.
Swag For Life Member 1:39pm bk845:

@John: It's generally on the oil filler cap
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Polyus:

Right next to the blinker fluid.
Swag For Life Member 1:40pm bk845:

The second number is the important one...40, 30, etc. That indicates the viscosity when the engine is at normal driving temperature.
Swag For Life Member 1:40pm bk845:

In summer, you could use a single viscosity oil (like SAE 30) if the car calls for 5W-30.
Avatar 1:41pm John Allen:

bk845: you will NOT steer me out of the dark
Swag For Life Member 1:41pm bk845:

Hahaha:) Ignorance is bliss...enjoy:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Handy Haversack:

Crisco works too.
Swag For Life Member 1:42pm bk845:

@Handy: Yes, briefly:)
Avatar 1:43pm Hubig Pie:

I've always thought it best to not know anything about the car I drive
Swag For Life Member 1:43pm bk845:

Apparently you'd be better off using maple syrup rather than Crisco tru-flo.com...
Avatar 1:44pm John Allen:

great, what month do you tap a power steering pump?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Handy Haversack:

I think around the middle of Dromedary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm chris in the redwoods:

and remember the gas cap is always on the opposite side of the available pump
Avatar 1:46pm Hubig Pie:

The average cranckcase holds about 4.5 qts of earl. That's alotta $$$ if you go the maple syrup route.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Polyus:

That Chick Corea song was nice, guess now I have another record of his to keep my eyes out for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Handy Haversack:

That's why you always go in perpendicular, Chris.
Swag For Life Member 1:54pm bk845:

@John - Late February of course:)
Swag For Life Member 1:55pm bk845:

Now, can someone tell me the difference between Cabot Series 3000 and Cabot Series 19200 Wood Toned Deck and Siding Stain?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Handy Haversack:

16,200.
Swag For Life Member 1:56pm bk845:

That is technically true:)
Avatar 1:56pm abbazabba:

hahahaha that was a good one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm mariano:

The same Reggie Lucas who wrote "Borderline" for Madonna?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Handy Haversack:

Any chance Bryce will be able to say or grunt hi next week before the schedule change?
  2:03pm Krys O:

Finally home and listening. Great jazz, JA.
Avatar 2:06pm John Allen:

yeah Montclair's Reggie Lucas is in that world w/ Mtume, Patrice Rushen etc. that stepped outta the jazz and into 80s pop.

Sure hope Bryce is healing. Good to see the supporters stepping up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm mariano:

That's really cool, though I shouldn't be surprised, John Allen. So many jazz folks make a hell of a living in the pop world. A guy I knew in my NYC days, amaaaazing jazz keyboardist, ended up touring with the Bee Gees (as keyboardist and music director) and Ricky Martin.
Avatar 2:32pm Avrilinmay:

posted in the wrong chat box at first. an earlier one. It still applies (of course) that this music is gorgeous and what a joy to have fill the air of this room.
also back home late for the beginning...
strength and thoughts of support @Jason and as Luka said before me: try to stay safe. 'bon courage' and thank you in behalf of ...

I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I couldn’t see who you were going or what you were. This early marbles thing didn’t get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Delaney and the blender who had marbles out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded dumpsters-crashing-into-each-other stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someone is being pinched. Also did you know JA made this up? Then you play this long winded dumpsters-crashing-into-each-other stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someone is being pinched. I like Bryce a lot.
