FUCK Mom is going back into the hospital. Sorry, had to say that here. I feel terrible. She spent the LAST 4th of July in the hospital and was looking forward to her last fireworks show. Mom has a record of going into the hospital on holiday weekends, like clockwork. The 4th is the WORST because a) any staff that CAN take off does and b) you have a huge influx of fireworks-related injuries which strains ANY emergency services, blood supplies, etc. On the Sunday after the 4th last year, I had to go to check Mom out at something like 7 AM, it sucked. I get to the hospital and there are something like 12 police cars outside, cops keeping an eye on a combo of DUIs and fireworks injuries. While waiting for a transport chair, I chatted with the beleagured woman at the front desk who had been there all night; was getting off at 8. The ENTIRE night had seen tons of people with lost hands, eyes, and a few deaths,,,in a small county hospital. At least this time Mom will be at an MSKCC affiliate hospital.

i don't understand relating radiohead to sparks, or king crimson, or anyone else really. i make such comparisons constantly and i've never thought of any other music while listening to radiohead, except one track (Eno) and one album, the bends, that reminded me of the beatles with alternate vocals (except the last song that sounded like early pink floyd with alternate vox)

Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜:

Thanks, me too. She has had major, sudden mental impairment and she just got done with a battery of MRIs and CAT scans. Good news=cancer not in brain. Bad news=blood clots in lungs, advancement of cancer, and a host of minor infections. At least this time she is being admitted directly from her doctor's office and not a "Mom, you have 103 fever, it's 3 AM on a Sunday, I'm calling 911" crisis situation (which she is also prone to--her answer to everything, even now, is "I'll just take a Tylenol and go back to sleep.").

sorry to hear that Threemoons! if she's with MSKCC at least there are no other patients than those with cancer. and she's being monitored even if it's their B-team. hopefully there's also less patients at this time. what's she in for this time?

Woods, that's interesting.
as usual with "mainstream" music, i came to radiohead halfassedly...hearing kid a first, then the next album, then the first 2, then finally ok computer ~4-5 years after it came out.
(by the way a huge kc fan (first 7 albums ONLY)

Woods those are my 2 favorites also. i think ok computer is a mostly pretty far from mainstream album with a radio hit (the worst song on it, which i skip over) that brought the masses to it. i do think there are extraordinary songs on it, even if the album as a whole is possibly overrated. (the last 4-5 songs especially)
...i think of pink floyd. a Great band that came out with an absolute shit album, the wall, that was their biggest commercial success.
happens over and over, right? the kinks, rod stewart, bee gees, the clash...

I listed to Radiohead a bit too much like I did Pink Floyd. So the party's over, time to move on. In 20 years I'll probably rediscover Radiohead. They are like King Crimson if King Crimson used sound effects instead of instruments to make their music to an extent.
