"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. Hey JA! I loved Robert Quine. He was such a singular guitar voice back in the day. As a Voidoid, his breaks were such an integral part of those iconic songs by Richard Hell. When he teamed up with Jody Harris, who I only knew as a Raybeat they defied expectation creating an album of proto dance loops. Too bad life became unbearable for him, he had so much more to offer I think.

re: flags and pickup trucks. My wife and I were driving from MA to OH along I-90. Between Syracuse and Buffalo, we first saw a truck flying 'Mehrkun flags... and we were like "Oh... shit... great..."

About an hour later we see another truck flying flags. Again we were like "Great. Wonderful."

We catch up with the guy and he's flying a Rainbow Flag and a BLM flag! We have never been as impressed with anyone driving a big pickup truck ever. :)

I just finished a 9 day cross country road trip. I saw many pickups and cars with trump stickers, brandon stickers etc. Lots of homemade trump 2020 and trump 2024 signs on the side of the highways too. Never saw a Biden sticker. It's scary out there.

@ChukAmok - I'm going to Unwound's Chicago show. I can't wait. I love love love Unwound. I only got to see them once. I've seen Jared in Karp and Big Business. He's an appropriate stand in for Vern. They grew up together. I'm sure there's a lot of deep love there.

Vern's death hit me pretty hard as far as death's go of people I don't know. I was with Unwound every step since their 2nd 45. This is going to sound corny as hell but I know that if I lived in the same town as Unwound we would have been friends. We're the same age, have the same influences, love the same punk rock and weird ass music. As I read the liner notes in the Unwound re-issue box sets, I kept thinking these guys seem just like my friends. And they like to go out in the woods and drink beer - hahaha

My last day of work is Friday, our house gets packed up and shipped on Wednesday, then we're on the road Thursday.
