Dennis Diken:

my man myron! hey now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
Woo:

Hey Andrew, myron. When I was a kid watching this Moon thing on TV I remember once they got to a certain point it was a "simulation" of the Apollo and not very exciting. Until of course they landed and walked on the Moon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Andrew in Toronto:

Hi there myron!

Gerry from Miami:

Howdy, DENNY! Got lost on the Internet searching for something insignificant and missed the first couple of tunes. But I joined in with the Bird and the Bee. Nice!

Gerry from Miami:

I see DENNY is away this week. We shall carry on like good soldiers anyway!

@Gerry from Miami - hey bud, the show's an encore but I'm hangin' out here on the message board with 'Yon Denizens'!

Hey all! Looking forward to another great listen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gino1 - nice to see you here!
  2:25pm
Gerry from Miami:

Hey, woo! Been having pretty bad luck with requests on the BUNNY stream. He sees the band name I asked for and he often plays Coca-Cola commercials or some such nonsense by these musicians from back in the day. Did it for the Monkees and the Cowsills. Even played a "drink milk" ad! Sounds of artificial intelligence indeed!
  2:29pm
larryartguy:

Skeeter is always a wise choice...I recall buying her box CD set...what a joy...!!
  2:29pm
Nezrok:

Hey All!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Dennis Diken:

@nezrok - greetings! @larryartguy - you too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Woo:

Gerry, with the Bunny it helps to ask for a song you know has been played before. Sometimes forget the Bunny doesn't have every song ever like Spotify (which I've never used)
  2:32pm
larryartguy:

LOVING all these great female voices you are treating us to this afternoon...GREAT show...!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Stu Rutherford:

Hello Dennis & everyone!
  2:33pm
Nezrok:

Carpenters song brings me back to Jersey Shore summer vacation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
Dennis Diken:

@larryartguy - so glad you're diggin'! @Stu Rutherford - thanks for tuning in!
  2:33pm
Gerry from Miami:

@larryartguy. I'm a big Skeeter Davis fan as well. But try and get BUNNY to play "I Can't Stay Mad at You." After 5 requests or so, I threw in the towel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
PaulRobeson1922:

Good song- Oh Qu'il Est Vilain
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Dennis Diken:

@PaulRobeson1922 - at your service!
  2:38pm
larryartguy:

Who knew BB could sing? Pretty good pop song by her...!!
  2:40pm
Gerry from Miami:

@woo. But BUNNY has some of the most obscure records I have ever seen! Why aren't more well-known ones in his vast collection? I get the impression his algorithm is programmed to mess with his listeners. Oh well, I can always go to some alternative source to satisfy my musical desires.
  2:41pm
Dudski:

I like the story of how Love came up with the title "Forever Changes". Arthur Lee broke up with one of his girlfriends and she said, "But you told me you'd love me forever" and he replied "Forever Changes".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Woo:

Gerry, I do believe every song ever is available on YouTube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm
Dennis Diken:

@Dudski - that is wild! thanks!
  2:52pm
Gerry from Miami:

@woo. That's quite a claim! Not true, of course. But YouTube does have quite a lot of stuff at our fingertips. But because of copyright issues, many things posted there get taken down. Like almost the entire Keith Jarrett and Peter Gabriel (solo) catalogs. And I am sympathetic to artists' need to monetize their work. The streamers should pay these musicians much higher royalties per play. Now I will step down from my soapbox!
  2:52pm
Myron Feld:

Dennis, even though this show is a repeat, the music matches today’s sultry weather perfectly!
Avatar 2:53pm
Eric R:

hi all! I'll test that claim, Woo! (I know it's an exaggeration)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
PaulRobeson1922:

@Gerry from Miami: maybe! BUNNY likes to play other tunes by The Animals when I request “A Girl Named Sandoz”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Dennis Diken:

@Myron Feld - thanks, brother man! @Eric R - hello!
  2:55pm
larryartguy:

Repeat? I did not know...but I did not know that. But it is like a sweet breeze on this HOT summer day...!! TY!!
Avatar 2:55pm
LesleyK:

Enjoying this encore while I slave away at work here!
Avatar 2:56pm
Eric R:

just went to youtube to see if the flip side of my group's 1978 single is there. It is. And not only that, but several tunes (not all, though) of an unreleased album we did. Pretty astounding and funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm
Dennis Diken:

@larryartguy @LesleyK - thanks a bunch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm
Woo:

@Eric, are you OK with your songs on there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
Gaylord Fields:

Sounded good to me, Dennis! Or should I say, "Très bien, Denis!"
Avatar 3:00pm
Eric R:

Woo, of course. Music is for sharing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm
Woo:

Right on @Eric. You can always leave a comment there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gaylord - merci!
  3:01pm
Gerry from Miami:

DENNY, I saw that Ed Ames tomahawk stunt the night it was broadcast on the "Johnny Carson Tonight Show." Give Johnny credit for pure bravery! His voice could have ended up at a much higher pitch if Mr. Ames's aim had been just a tad less accurate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gerry from Miami - yeah, well worth watching!!
  3:07pm
Gerry from Miami:

87 cents for that record with the Heartbeats on it? Such a deal! Low royalties on music didn't just start in the streaming age!
Avatar 3:08pm
Eric R:

@Gerry, I bet there were NO royalties then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gerry from Miami - that LP was a cutout - however, Morris Levy of Roulette didn't pay big to his artists nonetheless!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
Woo:

With Morris Levy, you paid HIM
Avatar 3:16pm
Eric R:

that Tommy James autobio is the best for Levy info
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
Woo:

The Tommy James autobio is a great read.
  3:17pm
Gerry from Miami:

Eric R. I wouldn't doubt it. I worked in the retail sector of the music biz for several years in LA. Pretty insane. A friend worked at a large wholesaler at that time. Two other friends, husband and wife, had a working band and worked many high-profile sessions. Oh, the tales they used to tell me!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
Dennis Diken:

@Woo @Eric R - and then there's this one: Godfather of the Music Business: Morris Levy
Biography by Richard Carlin
Avatar 3:19pm
Eric R:

ooh, thanks Dennis, gotta find that one!
  3:20pm
larryartguy:

The TOMMY JAMES book...title and author? TY
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Woo:

Me, the Mob, and the Music: One Helluva Ride with Tommy James & The Shondells. And the author is...Tommy James!
  3:23pm
larryartguy:

TY WOO...quite the title, TY...!!
  3:23pm
Gerry from Miami:

Yes, DENNY. I am aware of the structure around unsold or deleted records back in the day. Levy was just an extreme example of corporate greed and, if I recall, returned records("schlock") often counted AGAINST the artists' earnings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gerry from Miami - not sure I'd even call it corporate greed - more like tough guy greed! yet many people felt he was a mensch?! read all about it in both books!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
Woo:

then there's the thing with Levy going after Lennon for borrowing from Chuck Berry on Come Together
  3:38pm
larryartguy:

Dennis-I see a free show coming up on Long Island for the Smithereens (with Marshall Crenshaw)--go ahead PLUG it here for everyone...!!
  3:41pm
Gerry from Miami:

Two distinctive and instantly-recognizable voices from the 60s in those last two records---- Steve Marriott with the Small Faces and Keith Relf with the Yardbirds. So good.
  3:44pm
Gerry from Miami:

You can add Mike Smith of the DC5 to that previous duo of top 60s singers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gerry from Miami - right - and then there was Del!
  3:45pm
Dudski:

Exceptionally good selection today.
  3:48pm
Gerry from Miami:

So sad that Del Shannon passed away just as he was about to join the Traveling Wilburys to replace Roy Orbison. Would love to have heard what his unique voice would have added to that supergroup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm
Andrew in Toronto:

Thanks for an awesome show!
  3:51pm
Gerry from Miami:

So much great stuff on this encore show today! Thanks. DENNY! Best wishes as your Smithereens tour continues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Dennis Diken:

@Dudski - many thanks! @Andrew In Toronto - you too! @Gerry from Miami - obliged!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
