Welcome to the un-stable, Coel!

Seems to be working for me okay.

Is this photo 70s like I think I remember you said others were? Will have to think through when I thought lots of Koreans arrived in NYC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
coelacanth∅:

weird. the field remained blank until i went back to fmu homepage and reloaded it. (which is what i did the first time. and the 2nd time)

Saw no glitches here, coelacanth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Sam Segal:

@WR, this photo is from sometime in the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
Sam Segal:

All of the NYC tax photos I post are from the 80s.
  10:13pm
Dean:

"tax"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Sam Segal:

They are referred to as "Tax Photos" because they were taken by the NYC Department of Taxes (now called the Department of Finance). They took one photo of every building in NYC in 1940 and then again in the mid-1980s.

Also, hello, Dean!

And, hello, WR!

DL in LA:

Horsey time! I was on a horse as a kid and the horse walked under a tree with a low branch which pushed me off!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm
Sam Segal:

DL! Sounds tree-matic! Were you injured?
  10:26pm
Dean:

In other words, they scooped Ed Ruscha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm
Sam Segal:

I used to be a museum gallery guard, and I loved when I had a shift in front of Ed Ruscha's parking lot photos.
  10:33pm
Dean:

Bliss. I'm not sure I'd want to be a guard at a museum, because I'd have to watch the watchers. I did recently visit again after many years the Norton Simon in Pasadena, a sublime collection. I stood for minutes at Raphael's "Madonna and Child with Book," perhaps my favorite painting of all. Of course the guards knew where I needed to head to see it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm
Sam Segal:

Watching the watchers was occasionally good people watching, but usually pretty boring. People asking for directions definitely helped pass the time.
  10:45pm
Dean:

I'm a librarian. I entertain a splendidly vast range of questions, but too frequently for my taste, "Where is the restroom?" Still, that's a legitimate question.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Sam Segal:

That was one of the questions I didn't enjoy as a museum guard, as the building's layout was very confusing and it was always difficult to describe the many twists and turns people would have to take to reach the nearest restroom.
  10:48pm
Dean:

Naw, easy. "See that Jeff Koons? That's the restroom."

Actually, I kinda like Koons' schtick.
Avatar 🥁 10:48pm
DL in LA:

@Sam ... not injured, thanks. I miss going to the Getty Museum here in LA. The guards there are cool.
  10:50pm
Dean:

The Getty...a marvel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Sam Segal:

Hahaha, Dean. My girlfriend used to work in the same building where Jeff Koons had an office. Not sure what the bathroom situation was in that office building.

WR:

Wait, I didn't see you signal that you were going Canadian. Need to flash the blinkers or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm

Oh, I always play a Canadian at the top of the second hour of the show. I thought everyone knew that.

I arranged that with the Mets, JWR.

Dean:

I'm now listening not to WFMU, but to a recital by a woman who sings 17th century "ayres and songs," Lucile Richardot. Her fach is mezzo, but she sounds like a male countertenor. Utterly marvelous.

You're playing great tunes but I gotta shut done early tonight, Sam. Thank you. Catch all y'all folks later.

Thanks Dean for the mention of Richardot. She's got some hype: " MOVE OVER, countertenors, tenors, altos, haute-contres and mezzo-sopranos. Lucile Richardot has all your bases covered, with exquisite singing..." will give a listen. Ok, now it's light out for real here. Thanks, Sam.
