It seems at the moment that we could almost set up a betting pool, not whether mankind goes extinct (or at least society collapses completely) this century, but how: climate collapse or nuclear annihilation? Only problem is that none of us would be around to collect the winnings.

I was scared yesterday when hearing about the Ukrainian damaged part of the nuclear plant!

Gregory Lopez:

I have been exposed to nuclear bombs in South America. An hour away from the city. At least 5 in a week. I am well. So is family. While shocking, we are all in recovery. To be brief Iran said this week it will not go forward on creating their nuclear weapon or arsenal. That is a great sigh of relief. Stopping nuclear exchange is what should be next on the agenda, and I thank President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris for this. I hope I don't bother with my political commentary. It is a shame many cities have suffered nuclear bombings. This is the start of a decade. I am grateful I can be on my computer and listen to WFMU, among other things I enjoy, like walking, jogging, or reading a book on my computer. I left many things, to regain a sense of normalcy, and I am all the better for it.

Hiroshima. Thx for the sad reminder.

Aside- at west villageā€™s St Lukeā€™s library free pile was Simon Winchesterā€™s ā€œthe men who United the statesā€. He begins the book by acknowledging his Japanese mother-in-law. These were the last words she (ever?) wrote, specifically for SW and this book. She then died happily in her sleep:

Wood ę°“ moku
Fire ē« ka
Earth (Couldnā€™t cut paste) Do

Thank you, Brian and Heidee. :) Yesterday is a day of remembrance. Some of these songs I have been listening to since the mid 1980's. I will add that 2015 - 2016 had an enormous impact in South America when a nuclear chain reaction was unleashed on South American borders due to border fighting. By 2019 it was war. Ukraine will do what it needs to do. As a population we must be civil and allow each country's authorities to handle emergencies. The best way they can. I will wait for their grain as it distributed throughout the world. Hi Herb. I will listen to the song. :) Thank you Brian for your show and this soundtrack!
