	11:30pm still b/p: If I may introduce a Tan Gent -- Had occasion recently to describe the actual Jonestown massacre story to someone unfamiliar with it. Try summin' that monstrously awful shit up concisely sometime. The discussion came out of another one about "drink the Kool Aid" origin. Interesting that from either a Kesey and Merry Pranksters influence or Jonestown angle the phrase applies widely, and mostly without the Jones connotations of horror.

Back in the day (~35 years ago) we all read his stuff, [me & my friends] , and one was circulating photocopies of unpublished pieces by him (they got them over there [USSR] and brought them back here [USA]) The anecdotes from Pushkin's life were my favorite, and the samizdat copies had more very funny & weird anecdotes about Russian writers. Try summin' that monstrously awful shit up concisely sometime. The discussion came out of another one about "drink the Kool Aid" origin. Interesting that from either a Kesey and Merry Pranksters influence or Jonestown angle the phrase applies widely, and mostly without the Jones connotations of horror.

Back in the day (~35 years ago) we all read his stuff, [me & my friends] , and one was circulating photocopies of unpublished pieces by him (they got them over there [USSR] and brought them back here [USA]) The anecdotes from Pushkin's life were my favorite, and the samizdat copies had more very funny & weird anecdotes about Russian writers.
