Baby. Take one step back. Stand up straight. Shoulders back. Place your right arm across your abdomen. Deep breath. And take a long, deep, bow. We are all applauding your amazing radio program last week. There are people who are now NRBQ fans because of it. What a beautiful gift you gave us.
I know how much work you put into that one. Bravo. Good morning folks!

I flew to NYC this week. Sat in the Porter waiting area in Toronto. Read my book. Guy across from me. White hair. Black glasses. Saw him in line for customs once we'd flown to New York. Nick Lowe! Damn. He was probably glad I didn't recognize him in the airport.

TV Eye was a nice mix between young and old; with myself planted firmly in the middle.

It should be mentioned that on at least two occasions (possibly 3), you could practically here a pin drop in the room when Nick brought it down on tracks like "Blue On Blue". I've seen that happen at some of the more "sit down" venues I've seen Nick perform at, but to be able to pull that off in a standing room club is really goddamn amazing, I think.

When the NL/Elvis show went on sale, I looked at Ticketbastard for prices. Cost to get in and be on your feet the entire night: $55. Cost to get a seat: $130. More than DOUBLE the price.

Must be a California thing...in the late 80's, early 90's I'd ask the local stores in this area if they had any Rickenbackers or could get any and some of those guys actually got mad at me. @Clarke My prediction for the BCS finale: Gene goes on the run and ends up in New Jersey (you know, the state that looks like Alfred Hitchcock wearing a fez), where he shoots Tony Soprano in a diner as part of a deal to get protection from the NY mob. Thoughts?

@Revolution Rabbit Carl Wilson was probably the most high-profile player next to George Harrison to use the Rick 360/12 in 1964, he's playing one on Ed Sullivan in September '64. Then Rickenbacker 12's exploded with McGuinn the next year.

Yes, Costello covered "Night Time" on the b-side of "Every Day I Write the Book" (on the 12-inch). It's also a bonus cut on the "Imperial Bedroom" reissue (which was the previous album---not sure why they put it there).

Dang, I was on the road and missed the show in real time. And there's my photo of my wife disrespecting the WFMU book! I would have added to the Nick Lowe conversation by saying his show in Detroit last week was probably the best show I've seen him do in forty years and many shows. Just astounding. The crowd, the amazing openers Tommy McClain and CC Adcock. Just incredible. Los Straitjackets just kill it backing him.
