Hi everyone The stream is temporarily silent, but after some testing I'm confident that this episode will air. See you at the top of the hour.

Mr Fab:

Hi Jan! The silence is a bit unnerving. Looking forward to shattering it, as only Spike Jokes can.

Hey everyone, Jan and Mr. Fab!

Jan Turkenburg:

Hello Mr. Oxford!
Avatar 12:11pm
Mr Fab:

Apparently, Spike and co. invented rapping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I was just thinking the same.

MHLee:

Hi Jan and Fab
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
MHLee:

The original version of this song is so sparse. The guy recorded it after the session musicians went home and found an old guy lingering around who could play cello so it's just piano, celllo, and vocalist.

Jan Turkenburg:

Hi MHLee!

Gene Austin was good at friendly persuading people :-)

Hello!

Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Krys O.! Thanks again of taking care so well of this hour the past 4 weeks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm
Krys O.:

My pleasure. I'm glad it worked out.

I'm home resting after this morning's IV antibiotics session. Really enjoying the show.
  12:25pm
Mr. Oxford:

@Fab and @Jan I've also read Louis Jordan being credited for contribution towards invention of rapping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I hope you'll feel better soon, Krys
Avatar 12:27pm
Mr Fab:

Yikes, Krys, nothing too serious I hope?
  12:27pm
Mr. Oxford:

Get well soon, Krys!
Avatar 12:28pm
Mr Fab:

Agreed, Jan- Krys did a great job.
Avatar 12:30pm
Mr Fab:

Louis Jordan, eh, Mr. Oxford? Yes, I guess “rapping” has been around in some form or another for a while. Like the old “talking blues.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Krys O.:

Thanks! Cellulitis in a knee injury. I'll find out Thursday if the sessions need to be continued.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
MHLee:

Yes, I'm seen Saturday Night fish fry credited as a rap song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
MHLee:

Get well, Krys O,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Krys O.:

Thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
MHLee:

That's ear-splitting

Mr Fab:

Classic song, and kinda funny hearing a cowboy song sung by a slick crooner. Imagining him in his fine suit with orchestra out on the prairie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
MHLee:

Western music for some reason seems to not had the persistence that Appalachian music has. I wonder if it's because the West didn't remain isolated
  12:47pm
Mr. Oxford:

Ive got to go sadly. Jan, thank you for a great show. Thanks everyone else for the company on chat!
Avatar 12:48pm

Thanks for stopping by, Mr O!

Finally! The man on the flying trapeze!
Avatar 12:52pm
Mr Fab:

I much prefer the “western” half of the country/western equation, MHLee. Love them lonesome melodies and gunslinger tales. There’s great music everywhere, but the “twang” of bluegrass and singing style can be an obstacle for me sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
MHLee:

I used to perform in a bluegrass band in my teens. Have some recordings kicking around
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

owwww, we MUST hear those!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Krys O.:

It's been a treat to listen, Jan. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm

Thanks for joining, Krys!

I'll have to grab them the next time I'm at my mother's.
