They were optimistic that he might be alive, but were told he was dead. In 30-some odd episodes of adventure, they have learned that it is more likely that he is alive... but they still don't know for sure. Chandu moves very slowly.

And since a lot of the people that worked in radio in these days were WWII vets, I suspect enough of them were leaving their influence on sci-fi in that way.

I wonder if they design real NASA crafts to "sound" like subs, even though there's no practical reason for it to sound that way. They were optimistic that he might be alive, but were told he was dead. In 30-some odd episodes of adventure, they have learned that it is more likely that he is alive... but they still don't know for sure. Chandu moves very slowly.

	👻 10:48pm Austin Rich: A lot of old Sci-Fi "space" stories sort of treated space like the sea, and spaceships were often described like Subs. And since a lot of the people that worked in radio in these days were WWII vets, I suspect enough of them were leaving their influence on sci-fi in that way.

I wonder if they design real NASA crafts to "sound" like subs, even though there's no practical reason for it to sound that way. (Sort of like how modern electric cars "sound" like regular engines, but don't need to.)
