Breaking news. SpaceX is playing catch up after Hurricane Ian. Crew 5 has been re-instated to an Oct. 3rd launch today. I guess Elon has spoken.

SpaceX and NASA are targeting no earlier than Monday, October 3 for Falcon 9’s launch of Dragon’s fifth science expedition mission (Crew-5) to the International Space Station from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The instantaneous launch window opens at 12:46 p.m. ET, 16:46 UTC, with a backup opportunity available on Tuesday, October 4 at 12:23 p.m. ET, 16:23 UTC.

The Dragon spacecraft supporting this mission previously flew Crew-3 to and from the space station, and – following stage separation – Falcon 9’s first stage will land on the A Shortfall of Gravitas drone ship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

NASA astronauts Nicole Mann, Josh Cassada, Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata, and Russian cosmonaut Anna Kikina will launch on the Crew Dragon spacecraft to begin a six-month expedition on the ISS.

During their time on the orbiting laboratory, the crew will conduct over 200 science experiments and technology demonstrations in areas such as human health and lunar fuel systems.

The Crew Dragon will return to a splashdown at sea.

The webcast for the Crew-5 mission will go live about 4 hours before liftoff.
