I felt that the doc did an solid job presenting Judee's musical genius. Hard to avoid the sordid stuff, of course, but it well captured her outsize talent. My problem with it is similar to how I felt about the Karen Dalton documentary. I'm really tired of seeing all these old men wax poetic now about remarkable and talented women with whom, back then, they really just wanted to get in their pants. They just seem like a pack of old vultures. (I realize I'm being a little unfair, but that's the feeling I get from it.) At least the Judee Sill film had some excellent contributions from Linda Rondstadt throughout. It would have balanced things more with the guys if she had been on camera, but we were only able to hear audio of her.

The promise the original sessions for FiveD by The Byrds produced by Dave Hassinger at RCA studio B could have been even wilder. Dave engineered Blast Off by The Astronauts in the same studio - by any measure the DNA of psych. Love, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead. He understood.
