I believe "Make Them Dance" was from the first Defunkt album, self-titled. Thermonuclear Sweat was the second album after Kim Clarke came in on bass. I love the Melvin Gibbs/Ronnie Burrage rhythm section.

Another really good version of the Jazz/Funk crossover pretty contemporary with Defunkt is the Luther Thomas and Dizzazz album. It would be nice if you could find something from that record to include in the show. It is pretty hard to find but has a lot of great stuff on it.
