"Tack för kaféet" means literally "thanks for the coffee" and typically seen as a rather short way of ending a meeting when there is not much else positive to say...

One of the CBC shows used to have a segment called Opera or Soap Opera where you had to guess if a plotline was from an Opera or a Soap Opera... if you're wondering where the Opera part comes from.

Christopher Reeve said soap actors were directed to pause and stretch out the sparse stories as much as they could.

I dream of writing dialogue for soaps. Or working in the art department. They match the wardrobe with the sets and the lighting and the color of the men's ears. I'm always so impressed at how much they accomplish on such a breakneck schedule.
Avatar 4:39am
Fox:

The long pause on an actor's face for reaction that lasts far too long is so ridiculous. But they do have so much time to fill. Though now an hour long episode of General Hospital is only 37 minutes long without the commercials.

ERIK / VermonT:

Triangle of Sadness is definitely high on my “want to see” film list. Holding out for a viewing on the big screen … I’m a stickler for attending movies In-Theatre).
Loved that directors previous films : Force Majeure
& The Square !
I was unaware of the new Cronenberg Jr film !
- thanks so much for the recommendation.
Mia Goth is definitely buzzing within the film going geek squads. I went to “X” when it came out … absolutely fascinating ode to the 1970s artsy horror modes.
Clever, funny, gross, over the top, the whole 9 yards & more.
“Pearl” was also fascinating, and I believe a-ok to watch out of order (as you said, it’s a prequel). That extended Mia Goth close-up ending ! = totally wild and mesmerizing.
But definitely try catching up with “X”. (IMO, both a cut above the regular horror fare).
Director Ti West is up to something. I haven’t seen any of his other stylized horror films … are his others unique enough & worthwhile ? “MaXXXine” is up next, 1980s ode …. Can Ti West make it 3 for 3 ?
Fingers crossed 🤞

Fox : I was so tweaked when you brought up the “Tar” discussion … my partner & I just read the Marin Alsop “irritated response” to that film. I guess I can understand where she’s coming from, considering it seems like it’s partially “inspired” by her career ?!

It’s not particularly in my wheelhouse … but I was pretty impressed & emotionally moved by Marin Alsop career docu (pbs great performances docu THE CONDUCTOR)
- it’s way more engrossing than I expected !
She’s quite the feminist powerhouse.

Oh BTW , I really liked “Tar” as well.
