Avatar 4:20pm

We get lots of films. Last year we had 300, so just being Selected is good.
  4:21pm
Chris Ianuzzi:

It's great!
Avatar 4:21pm
Mike Rogers:

I think last year we only screened 20 or 25 videos.
Avatar 4:22pm
Mike Rogers:

It's only the second year, so we get bigger and bigger every year!
Avatar 4:25pm
Mike Rogers:

This year is our second year (Actually should be 4th but Covid) But we finally got some support from the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce!!! They are paying for our posters, and the TV broadcast and that kind of stuff! So at least we won't lose so much money.... But this is a long term plan. 3~ 5 years for break even. So anything helps!
Avatar 4:26pm
Mike Rogers:

But it's for the indies artists anyway.... The future of music is Indies artists. The Major label are going the way of the dinosaur!

Avatar 4:30pm

I heard from a friend it is still a big hassle to get into Japan. He was stuck at the airport in a huge line of people who were being checked! I hope that doesn't happen when I go to UK in October! I hate airports!!!! Even going to the airport is almost worst than going to the dentist!
Avatar 4:33pm

Why don't we pencil it in in 2024? Maybe you can tour Japan too?
  4:33pm

How is Haneda?
Avatar 4:34pm

Chris Ianuzzi:

Haneda is closer?
Avatar 4:40pm
Mike Rogers:

↳ Chris Ianuzzi @4:39
Yeah, but I think flying into Haneda is much more expensive (but check, don't believe me)... Haneda is about 30 minutes from my house.... Narita is like a bit over 3 hours!
  4:41pm
Chris Ianuzzi:

Melodic took the option to not respond to me about shipping equipment. it dragged on and on. so, the band was leaving and I just sent it
  4:41pm

Crossing the border into Italy, it is requested that autographing CDs for the guards kid works everything out
Avatar 4:52pm
Mike Rogers:

↳ Shineman @4:51
That's OK. I'm not sure either. I want it to be like NPR used to be when I was a kid, excepting as if they (or me) were on acid.
Avatar 4:53pm
Mike Rogers:

↳ Chris Ianuzzi @4:52
No kidding???? When Paul McCartney got arrested in Japan, I heard that all the police were asking him for his autograph. No kidding!
Avatar 4:53pm

For me over thinking is bad gets me off track so I stop questioning things and just let it happen

Chris Ianuzzi:

Thats funny :)
Avatar 4:55pm

I try to do that, but I am anal retentive and keep filling with things and then mess them up until I get frustrated and just decide to drop it.
Avatar 4:56pm
Mike Rogers:

↳ Chris Ianuzzi @4:54
No. Seriously. There were news reports that very high ranking police were calling the detention center and the boss asking for McCartney's autograph (for their kids ofr something) Really, like Chief f police types, etc.... You know pulling favors from "friends." It was a sort of scandal in Japan. I just saw that on the news and laughed.

I painted those roses everyday for a year or so.... Maybe it was 2004 or 2005. You'll be proud of me, There were 10 paintings in the set. I sold them all! I don't even know where 9 of them are now.
Avatar 5:20pm

And they were too cheap, but not too expensive. $500 each.

Avatar 5:24pm

No I just knew a lot of artists
Avatar 5:27pm
Mike Rogers:

↳ Shineman @5:24
I had a kind f four teacher (i men in Japan he was kind of famous) I went to his house and it was full of stuff he painted. I thought, "What a waste! What good is art if no one sees it?" So I decided I'd sell everything... I haven't painted since then. Maybe I will someday. I'm thinking about it, but have been thing about it for 15 years or so!

Ohhh..Ive got to go.
talk to you soon Mike san.

Avatar 5:34pm
Mike Rogers:

Yeah. Painting is so fun in one way: You can dive deep into your mind and go deeper and deeper and no one will tell you "Stop!" It is very relaxing is you get into the groove... And no one needs to be a "Good at art guy" Just have an image and if you can put that image on canvas, you are a master!
Avatar 5:35pm
Mike Rogers:

Hey! Where is Mister Fabulous?
Avatar 5:36pm
Mike Rogers:

I was hoping he'd be here because I was hoping he'd hear lots of songs he has never heard before!

Well put I always look deep into a picture and see images that aren't seen by the artist themselves
Avatar 5:38pm
Mike Rogers:

↳ Shineman @5:36
That is actually a talent Shineman san! I bet you can do this too: Look at a broken down piece of furniture and see what it can be if restored to its former glory!
Avatar 5:39pm

When I lived in the states, I would go to Garage sales and buy busted up old radios and repair them and then sell them at the Swap Meet!
Avatar 5:39pm
Shineman:

Yes or moment in time
Avatar 5:40pm

They were talking about some big hill that the Russians held and the general was ordering his guy to go take that hill. It was a terribly bloody battle. Do you know about Japan - Russian War of 1904 - to 1905? That is a wild story!
