Wow, I hadn't thought about Chase in years (and with any luck, I soon won't think about them again). Unique among the BS&T-ish bands of that era in that it had four trumpets but no other horns. I had (mis)remembered that the whole band died in a plane crash; it was actually Bill Chase, the leader, and three other members (but none of the other trumpeters). Bill Chase worked with Maynard Ferguson, Stan Kenton and Woody Herman before trying and failing to mine some of the jazz-rock gold.

My uncle owned the channel 68 transmitter tower and the building where the studio was located (he did not own the station). I was in the studio (about 12 years old!) when the Ramones did their lip-sync... that was when I lost my naiveté about live music on TV! (They didn't even have the amps switched on). Also remember Joey was VERY TALL, he had to crouch coming down the stairs to the studio (the green room was upstairs). I was allowed to stand in the back of the room as long as I didn't make a sound or try to talk to anyone!

So the Chart for FMU's first day :
www.facebook.com...
- wishing I knew Time of Day that broadcasting began ! So I cannot know the Ascendant ~ Rising Sign - or the Houses anything is in for sure. So I ran it for 8 A.M.
It's a 'Splay' shaped chart - with planets spread all around the circle of it. This correlates to a varied & full sort of personality (& fates) - with diverse attributes, rather than focused on one or a few areas of life...
It leaps out that it has a ⦿Sun-♆Neptune-♅Uranus T-⧠Square configuration : two planets in 180° ☍Opposition with a third ⧠Square @ 90° to each of them - all challenging & active aspect angles.
⦿Sun ☍Opposition ♆Neptune implies a 'personality' that is sensitive, even insecure & poetic or musical & empathic as a fundamental part of identity. ♅Uranus is the planet of humanist rebellion, independence & technology - radio, certainly ! & ♅Uranus is @ the tip or focal point of this pattern...

Do remember in high school being able to come home from a show absolutely reeking of cigarette smoke from bars and loving the convenience factor…”no mom, it wasn’t ME smoking”. I miss the edginess. And didn’t just trade one public addiction, for another-phones. I’d rather people smoked than held up phones in my way at a concert. Smokers are more fun.

It's not a way of looking at it. When you're allergic to it and it's everywhere it makes going anywhere shitty. I was tormented by it growing up because my mother smoked. And when I would say something to her about it she just brushed It off as me being an unnecessary complainer..

Speaking of smoking in airports, here in the land of Big Tobacco there was a small glass room filled with smokers. You didn't even have to light up, just poke your head in and take a deep breath for about a pack's worth of nicotine.

Actually, that is a common historical misnomer. "Salarium" was "salt money" -- not money made as salt. As the army already paid for the soldiers' food, housing, and arms, this was the "side salary" that they made -- literally "salt money" -- for everything from drinking to whoring, gambling, as well as small personal goods.
