Candy Matson featured LIVE ORGAN for each episode, but these were performed live, they captured on transcription disc.

However... only 14 of the 92 aired episodes exist in the modern era. I'm trying to track down some of the scripts that we don't have recordings of... I think we should do readings of them for Pledge Drives!

It bums me out. I love Candy Matson, but it was essentially a two-person operation, at a local station in SF, so no one was being as careful about archiving as other businesses were. Candy is really a very low-tech operation, compared to Bold Venture, or Box 13. (Live music, live SFX, live script reads, no "post-production.")

"The Parade" was a script that was adapted for Dimension X, but this version is revised, with slightly different characterization, and there's a few additional beats that are sort of newish. This was a popular show, so it makes sense that they would want to re-use this script.

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
Austin Rich:

As with most of the X-Minus 1 run, the sound quality is a lot better than it was with the Dimension X run. While there are still some odd episodes, here and there, that are not great, it's incredible what five years can make. By 1955, the technology to make better transcription discs, and the notion that they should be saved (since people were already noticing that shows from the 30's were already gone) was starting to get around. Serious preservation efforts wouldn't happen for a while longer, but among fans, it was clear that these shows needed to be saved.

By 1955, there were already many established Sci-Fi 'zines, and The Futerians and other groups were having early Sci-Fi cons. Radio was absolutely a subject at these gatherings, and I'm sure the first preservation efforts came out of those groups.
