Richard Lloyd played a concert in the NY/NJ area recently that was titled Television (though I don't believe he was performing under that name, but featuring the music-wasn't there, don't know for sure, but it caught my eye).

Got to see Television back in the old early Punk years, and again a bit before the pandemic (with a different 2nd guitar, no Lloyd), both shows great!

i had no idea what David was doing on the show today, and come in my door, and from my headphones, I hear, "it's a mothafucka". I immediately knew that it was nuclear war! (never heard this cover)

I love how these songs reduce mindless imperial violence to pushing a button and kissing one's own ass.

Who, by the way, actually knows that nuclear war is a motherfucker? Shouldn't we ask them about it?

You're right, @LG, but The Carpenters did cover it. Karen spitting, "Nuclear war...it's a motherfucker" really revealed another side of her.

I remain puzzled about our relationship to nuclear war. It really isn't a motherfucker in the way that, say, a devastating hurricane is a motherfucker. It's something we choose to do.

Like climate change, it’s something we don’t think about until it happens, and then we say, “Why did people let this happen?”
