Favoriting Acid Jazz Hands with Bronwyn Bishop: Playlist from June 2, 2023 Favoriting

Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

I haven’t researched it or anything … but I have found RAW HONEY 🍯 (preferably NOT processed & local to your area is ideal). So, not the clear stuff, usually a dense color. Buckwheat style (dark brown color) supposedly has extra good throat properties.
Considering your issue, dissolve heaping teaspoon (or more) in cup of warm water & occasionally gargle gently with it. Also can just dissolve small amounts on tongue and let slide 🛝 down throat.
I have found great relief from Raw Honey with sore throats and colds !
I occasionally suffer from dry mouth, & it helps with that way more than a mint (mint can be drying !)

Bronwyn et al., are you familiar with the album "You've Stolen my Heart" by Kronos Quartet and Asha Bhosle? It's arrangements of Bollywood songs for string quartet (plus a few other instruments) and voice. It's really one of the most enjoyable records I've heard this year. It was released in 2005 (?), but I just got it used. Highly recommended.

Uncle WR throat remedy. First gargle lukewarm salt water with a squeeze of lemon or lime. Two cups water, scant tablespoon salt, with 1/4 wedge of lemon or lime, it should be about 8 - 10 gargles.

Follow that with a shot of your preferred 80 proof alcohol. Mine is either good rum or mescal. Sip a bit of the alcohol, swish it around in you mouth and swallow slowly. Continue with 2nd or 3rd or 4th shot if necessary.

Anybody here see the outrageous Indian pop culture actioner film “RRR”? - lucky to attend in a big theatre! - utmost FUN cinematic experience! (Not sure if the flatscreen TVs wild shrink its grandeur).
Not only outrageous & silly, but also decent revisionist historical wink references to today!

I saw the WGA screening of it here in LA! "Outrageous" doesn't do it justice, lol! That film was plain nuts. I don't know how it'd play in India but here it plays like an insanely expensive midnight movie.

FYI. Not a musical but a song-cycle, "Penelope" by Sarah Kirkland Snider, is one of the best "classical" recordings of this century (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION). Although "classical," it is very listenable and beautiful. sarahkirklandsnider.bandcamp.com...

Ms B, I once saw a fantastic staging of Waiting for Godot in London (featuring Ben Kingsley and Alan Howard), and the audience really kind of ruined it for me by NOT laughing enough. There are very funny parts to it, like all Beckett, and they were all taking it as "This is High Art—we must be Serious." Oy.

British jazz was mired in Dixieland Revival styles for a very long time, which seems strange, because now a lot of it is very avant garde.

Bronwyn, if you haven't been to the Mark Twain sites in Elmira, NY, they're worth a look. His writing gazebo, plus (different spot) his grave. There's a center at the college there, which has displays and info. Elmira was his summering spot (his wife's family had property there).
