Old Time Radio: The Carter Family
In the winter of 1938–39, the Carter Family traveled to Texas, where they had a twice-daily program on the border radio station XERA (later XERF) in Villa Acuña (now Ciudad Acuña, Mexico), across the border from Del Rio, Texas. In the 1939–40 season the children of A.P. and Sara (Janette Carter, Joe Carter) and those of Maybelle (Helen Carter, June Carter, Anita Carter) joined the group for radio performances, now in San Antonio, Texas, where the programs were prerecorded and distributed to multiple border radio stations. (The children did not, however, perform on the group's records.) wikipedia

AI cleaned up John Lennon for a track being released soon. Someday all these vintage recordings will be run thru..

Hadn't realised that possibility, yet, but that will probably happen indeed.

Thanks to Krys O for the Carter family radio recording. Thank to you, Jan, for getting the details into the playlist.

DJ Guin:

↳ Jan Turkenburg @11:31
less than that. i think McCartney admitted to AI assist with his vocals -- might be a cute way of saying he autotunes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am

↳ Jan Turkenburg @11:33
Thanks Jan!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am
Jan Turkenburg:

↳ DJ Guin @11:35
Oh, I dind't understand that from the article that I've read about it. It was just using AI generated tools to isolate and brush up Lennon's vocals. Only Paul knows, I guess ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am
MHLee:

↳ Song: "On Border Radio (Station XET) (courtesy Krys O.)"...
Brings me back to when I played bluegrass I should pick it back up...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am
MHLee:

↳ Jan Turkenburg @11:38
They used Ai for the 2022 Revolver mix so I assume it's similiar
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am
Matt:

The Carter Family doesn't pause between songs, just call out the next song name and rip into it - like another musical family I know, the Ramones
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Jan Turkenburg:

Auto tune is an ugly gimmick fx for hip hoppers and such. I don't mind if an elderly Paul would use it to perfect his vocals. Over the years he has proven beyond doubt that he could do without.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Jan Turkenburg:

↳ Matt @11:39
Matt, I edited the silences out here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am
Matt:

↳ Jan Turkenburg @11:41
I see! Thanks for the heads up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am
Jan Turkenburg:

As I said those silences were put in there purposely to give radio stations space to include ads and announcements

If you want to go down a rabbit hole...search for Industry Plants..'artists' that are promoted with little to no talent -- they are seemingly Indie, but it's a lie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
Jan Turkenburg:

Still, I believe these were mostly recorded in one go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
