Many of the hippy generation have also found a niche there, practising alternative forms of agriculture. Lisbon and Porto have become too expensive to buy into the property market. Land demands its ground-rent, and how much that is depends on how much valorization of capital it generates. Telecommunications change those valorization conditions, though. Marx's treatment of ground-rent in Das Kapital Vol. 3 has been sorely neglected, which in turn has had dramatic (disastrous) political consequences.
