Life is good I just woke up from a dream where I was in a car that crashed into a river and then I was swimming around in an underwater tunnel finding bubbles to breath out of… so clearly it could be much worse… good to be back in bed land.. my spirit fortified by these ancient rhythms I shall soon venture forth into house land to find my cat and perhaps into the great world outside

Was wondering where many of the jokes / puns of this song might have come from.

Nearly every recording you play can be a rabbit hole, hours of investigating sources, context, influences. But today no time for that. Have first meeting in 20 minutes and have yet to finish eating my oatmeal.

Your playing of Louis Jordan after the Hoosier Hot Shots brings to mind conversations I heard with Dave Bartholomew, the band leader and producer early associated with Fat Domino. They were aware that they were aiming at a young audience and consciously considered what traditional or long established nursery songs and rhymes could be adapted. It was the same with use (with some clean up) of the wide pool of risqué jokes and verses and also religious material. All was fodder for making into popular music.
