I got turned on to Teddy when he opened for the Old 97s at Royale in Boston in 2011. Three-piece with Teddy playing a big old hollow body. I was a little surprised, circling back to the records, at how lush the arrangements were. I liked 'em.

Several people saw a recent pic of Paul that depicted two Höfners and surmised he got it back. But the second one was a gift from the producer of the new Stones album. Paul used it to play the fuzz bass on a song on the album. That doesn't preclude that someone did find the '61 Höfner and this is all buildup for a big reveal.

I'd be an absolute beginner there. I could probably figure it out since the bass isn't where the pyrotechnics are in surf music. But probably nae soon enough for them.
