Holst gets a bad rap, and I'm pleased to hear that you're aiming to correct it, Bob. He was an inventive composer, like many British composers of the time whose playlist we have reduced to war. horses, e.g., The Planets. Even there, a good recording of The Planets can be marvelous.

Whew good.

For The Planets Holst gets the same kind of poo-pooing that Vivaldi gets for Four Seasons, due in part to market saturation. But both their discographies span wider than that, though it's true that a lot of Vivaldi sounds "the same."

Agreed, dan. Fortunately, both Elgar and Vaughan Williams are enjoying resurgence. I love them.

BOB, thanks for the double play on "Wild Mountain Time." The divine voice of Sandy Denny and the 12-string Ricky of Roger McGuinn. Two musical wonders not to be missed.

Lot of talent to spread around, that Cherry family. Beside Don's illustrious career with Ornette Coleman and others, his daughter, NENEH, made the record, "Buffalo Stance," a very creative and catchy rap/hip-hop number that was a huge international hit.

I was never sure what attracted Todd Rundgren to want to work with Laura Nyro. But this song, "Boat on the Charles," solves the mystery.

Love Boat on the Charles. I listened to it over and over in my 20s, living far away from home in London.

Until I heard stuff from Runt and Nazz my favorite Rundgren album would have been Something/Anything Obvious one I know.

I don't know whether Don Cherry officially adopted Neneh, but obviously she took his name.

"Broken Shadows" is available as a 2 CD set with Science Fiction - "The Complete Science Fiction Sessions." Nutritious early 70s Ornette!

Sort of like Rundgren and Liv Tyler, except obviously she didn't take Todd's name.
