Tribe! I have their Tribal Bumpin' record. When I first got it I was like "this isn't as freaky as I hoped it would be" hahaha. Then with repeated listens I realized it's still awesome - hahaha!
as a thin and not tall child in school, when i was forced to play football (which i never learned all the rules of) if my teammates could stuff the ball into my arms securely, i'd usually (always?) make a touchdown...so i know of what you speak!
Just got excited that Gaylord finally got a timeslot in which I am not asleep here in Germany, then saw that it is only a fill in ... Well, better than nothing I guess.
- as it happened - my own slight build (5'11" & 125 lbs. a good portion of my life) & shocking ignorance of sportsball had no such result. & that's how I like it.
i knew the rules: carry the ball past a line near the end of the imaginary property of the other team.
that's it, right?!
... i remember a kid that was as oblivious as i, also drafted into the game by the gym teacher but making considerably more of an effort than i to be gung-ho about it-making this amazing touchdown; must've run 3/4 of the field, and must've been wondering how it was so easy... and seemed quite happy with himself until he was informed he ran the wrong way.
Hey prof! Sorry about the accident in the fuZZZmobile. Deep frying a turkey in an enclosed space is not the best idea.

Palley - you're back to lovingly prevail over the airwaves!!! If anyone can pay proper tribute today to the loss of Marty Kroft, I know that you can, man!!
Gaylord! Thanx for playing a song by Cristina! Until now, I only have read about her. Her music has such an appealing, wry glamour. I quite like it. Further proof of your awesomeness.
= Cristina Monet Zilkha, known during her recording career as Cristina, was an American singer and writer, best known for her no wave recordings made for ZE Records in the late 1970s and early 1980s in New York City. =
Hey prof.fuzz! Thanks for hanging out with me on my TG fill-in.

Erik (VT):
Oh wow; been a long while since I’ve heard anything from Cristina’s ‘sleep it off’ 1984 album (¿2nd full length?). I recall thinking it an improvement on her debut, yet not sure anymore. Don Was production.
- I often got the sound of Christina and Grace Jones’ fun “slave to the rhythm” Trevor Horn produced albums mixed up. Very Similar album covers & Bigger name sonic producers & released 1984/1985.
experience!
a number of year ago, we had a house fire (furnace caught on fire and blew smoke throughout the whole house, but no flame damage, thankfully). the next day i had to teach and all of my clothes smelled like smoke. at lunch, i accidentally spilled a microwavable turkey and gravy dinner on my frontside, covering my shirt (thankfully, i almost always wear black). i went to teach right after than, smelling like smoke and gravy. i warned my students to stay back cuz i smelled bad. ten minutes into the class, the fire alarm in the building went off. as we were grabbing our stuff to evacuate, i told the students it was probably my fault and not to bother waiting around or coming back to class. i went home.
but the "covering smoke smell with gravy" trick thereupon entered by bag of tricks. feel free to use it appropriately.
@Michael: I put dried shiitake, woodear, scallions, a coupla kindsa seaweed, ginger, garlic, and whatever I have lying around the house. This time, some celery, carrots, and turkey. And salt. Ya know.
Gaylord - I think you recently posted something to the effect that WFMU has a way of recontextualizing familiarity. That's definitely the case for me coming around to The Bee Gees.
Psychic DJ Connection again! Gaylord, mere moments before the LB song ended, I was thinking about Tom Verlaine, and had just pulled Television's double live CD from ROIR to play on my show tomorrow. :-D
Thanks! I'm eating some now. It came out good. I like to dress it with sesame seeds (today, black), toasted sesame oil, and a splash of tamari.
Congee is easy to make. Less finicky than its cousin, risotto.
I was having a rough day. But, this bowl of congee, Gaylord on the radio (!!!), and pleasant company here on the comments-corner is changing my mood ring. Thanks, everyone! Hugs and kisses all around.
Hey there. Still here--but was walking, listening, cooking, listening, typing listening and just came back to say thanks for the great soundtrack for all that.
Would have sworn this was a BBC Radiophonic track but in my defense (or defence) “Amnesia Transmitter” *does* sound like a Doctor Who soundtrack listing
Late to the party because we only just saw that you are filling in today, dear Gaylord! Here now and will listen back in full on the archive! Happy Holidays!
Only aspect that would make this time spent together even more magical = album titles & source derivation info, etc. Otherwise all is gold. (Albeit, seems to be getting more challenging gathering that info, as sources are all over the map). Do most folks even care ?
Sure - everything more would be - more.
Thing is - pretty sure Gaylord's method is notably spontaneous segues - resulting in making playlist that distinguish him as what I call the Master Weaver - the Best of the Best DJs.
...problem there is that population control has too often been championed by the worst (& we meant the worst) sort of Eugenicists (*you* should stop breeding - we should breed more)
- also that population regeneration is actually declining in some developed nations (where people wanna live their lives not make babies as much)...
