Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

I may have his albums somewhere (on my hard drive), have to check, don't know them. Came to him because I'm big on Nels Cline and he plays with him. In fact, I believe he'll be in Cline's band at Solar Myth early Feburary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
doctorjazz:

↳ Song: "Lotus On the Nile" by "Bobby Zankel Quintet"
I believe Zankel did record a bit for CIMP-CIMP was a combination jazz and audiophile label, out of Cadence in upstate NY (who also sold stereo equipment, and had a monthly record list/brochure). They are known for good sound as well as adventurous music (likely why you saw it in a store with audio gear).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm
DJ Peter:

↳ doctorjazz @4:18
You've anticipated me: playing a Cadence Records release of Zankel next.
But to be clear: I picked out my CD and brought it to the store. They woulda played Steely Dan or some such thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm
doctorjazz:

↳ DJ Peter @4:20
(there are recent audiophile Steely Dan reissues, just sayin'.
But I was referring to those high end stereo shops (where you buy stereo gear that costs what a small car costs...)
  4:23pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
