In a way, those kinds of cloth drapes reminds me of the PNW, The Mid-Valley, and this region. I think the juxtaposition of that kind of imagry, and the kinds of racism and sexism and violence that this book / podcast addresses, is an import aspect of this event.

Back in the day, a friend mentioned the white supremacist and started trying to find clues in the local guy's poems. I just asked him if that was him. He wasn't mad at me but he was so mad that an evil person in this world had the same name. He started going by Th Metzger and Der Metzger around that time.

	10:28pm Obadiah: I think it is important to find balance between a willingness to embrace the necessity of conflict and keep open the possibility of reconciliation.
	🎸 ♥ 10:28pm Austin Rich: It's so hard to articulate one's politics without sounding like an over-simplified reduction of ideas, but I feel like this group of folks is a nice cross-section of things that I believe. Different amounts of each of them.
	🎸 ♥ 10:31pm Austin Rich: Usually, I would do all sorts of editing, and add songs, or samples, to a recording like this. Aside from the editing that Erin did, I presented exactly what Erin gave me, in two parts. It felt important not to edit their words, or the things they presented to the public.

	11:01pm Obadiah: I had dinner with most of the folks on the panel after this event and my feeling is that some of the most valuable lessons come from the people who have faced burn out and come close to dropping out of activism. The biggest threat to activism is the difficulty of balancing your personal needs and the needs of the movement. Elders who are still active have had to find ways to protect themselves and find that balance.

A combination of collage, new experimental records and other bits and bobs, Mid-Valley Mutations is a tour through the mind of Austin Rich, who has been broadcasting in some form since 1998. Heavily influenced by Dr Demento, Don Joyce and old fashioned College Radio, Austin creates Audio Essays on a variety of subjects, and even just plays records, from time to time. Sometimes Live music and Interviews will grace the program, helping create a situation where you don't really know what you're going to hear, when you tune in. What you need to know is when you enter the Mid-Valley region, be prepared for the Musical Mutations... in whatever form they take.

	11:01pm Obadiah: I had dinner with most of the folks on the panel after this event and my feeling is that some of the most valuable lessons come from the people who have faced burn out and come close to dropping out of activism. The biggest threat to activism is the difficulty of balancing your personal needs and the needs of the movement. Elders who are still active have had to find ways to protect themselves and find that balance.
