Jan, how long have you been digitizing these jazz tunes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am
doctorjazz:

One of these years I'll digitize my vinly (I have an inexpensive A-D converter, a portable digital recorder, but doing one album takes forever, with splitting tracks, tagging, etc, only done a handful).

Love this track (and have this album, I believe, listening at work). Learned about all this stuff from The Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz, and a Time Life series on indivitual pre-bop artists.

Hey, all! Sitting on the freeway here. Did the bugs with the playlist and the WFMU website work out yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am
Krys O.:

My old friend David Quinlan who did a show on WFMU in the 80s played a lot of jazz and classical music. David repaired church organs. He would read H.G. Wells books on the air and play Goon Show episodes. I learned a lot from him, especially about boogie woogie piano players like Meade Lux Lewis. Sadly no archives. :(

Sounds like you're stuck in that car-I went into Manhattan (live in Joisey) to see Jorma Kaukonen Tuesday night. Generally a 35 minute drive home, took me 3 hours to get back, sheesh!

↳ Song: "Manhattan Melodies" by "Paul Whiteman a.o."
As someone who was titled "The King of Jazz" (in the 20s), this is a very not-jazz set! (even then, it was mostly because he hired hot jazz players like Bix Biderbeck)
