The Astrud Gilberto version is a good example, and charmingly done. It's not *entirely* one note, but each vocal line is a single note, until the bridge, which has a zillion notes.

I heard the UMass Percussion Ensemble at a local museum. It was predominantly marimba music. Most of it was quite good, predominantly contemporary pieces + Stravinsky. The opening piece was Bach's Fifth Cello Suite; it was well played, but my conclusion was that we now know why Bach didn't write the piece for the marimba.

  8:13pm
Dean:

Linn has an insidious, enabling mode of marketing. They get you at entry level and then provide endless opportunities for trade-ins and upgrades. I could only afford half of the upgrades that I needed a few years ago. Table sounds fantastic, but I sure would love the new subchassis, top of the line arm, new motor, and maybe even the top of the line power supply, even though I upgraded it on the first go-round. I'll never be able to afford the flagship cartridge.

I'm considering starting to buy tracks. I'm a bit of an old timer so I want to download what I buy and know I can access it when the service that sold it to me goes out of business or off line. Oops, it's the #8 that strips off the wax! I hope no one ruins their Edison cylinder based on my typo!! Fat finger error.

At the local Hifi Shoppe, the finish nails are Finnish, and go for five hundred bucks a pop! I left with a two-penny nail instead, for only $99.95.

.. that's one BIG reason I love FMU.. they play stuff you will NOT find online! FMU is one of the last bastions of serendipity!

Spotify is a possibility. I think I had a similar convo on another steam and there were apps mentioned that could move the music between streaming apps. Going to investigate TIDAL too. It's DJ recommended. Got electrolytes!

I love Edison cylinders. Almost bought a sample LP of transcriptions yesterday, but i have some of Ward Marston's work on CD.
