The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

This was a dress rehearsal of sorts for the actual moon landing mission, and as far as most people knew it went fairly smoothly. Yet the internet has recently been abuzz about the audio recorded during the mission, which captures the three startled crew members taking in the eerie sounds emanating from their radios. ...and i liked some of it, a little.
but i never considered Allman brothers southern rock. only after Duane died - which is about when i was introduced to them, but the earlier stuff. i think of Duane's band as..."southern blues rock with jazz influence"?!
nonetheless, i like the brothers and sisters album a lot, where Duane's influence is still evident but slipping away.

At a higher level of abstraction, I'll only say that WFMU has not yet warmed up to the magnificent achievements of Western classical music, early to late. Still too selective.

...but i do like a few of their early songs. not overplayed where i grew up until "one of these nights" came out...when the guy with the much worse voice started singing most of their songs.

when i was 10-12. seems now like my age was their target audience!
...but, they certaiinly were top-tier musicians. all 3 of them. and Plant had an amazing voice...which i find very juvenile and annoying nowadays!

If it's okay to grouse about bands, I've never liked Danny Elfam. He strikes me as a mediocre talent. But I did see MKOTOB on television many years ago, and they were fun.

Notes: also surprised by solo Don Fagen (after “the nightfly” the latter solo albums are oddball, not great but definitely some worthy moments). So what about solo Walter Becker? (spare output) - I’ve never listened to any of it. Worthwhile?!?
