The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

The media is abuzz over news that Harvey Weinstein's sexual abuse charges are being retried in court, and that, as a result, he'll be returning to public life, as horrendous as that must seem to the #metoo groupies.

Dean:
I just wrapped up teaching a class to law students. Earlier in the semester a student--early 20s--appeared in class with a Townes Van Zandt t-shirt. He knew of TVZ from growing up in Houston, where the stunning double live LP was recorded. I advised him to check out the last live disc near the end of Townes' life, McCabe's guitar store in LA. It's a bittersweet document.
Another student came to class wearing a Metallica Kill 'Em All t-shirt. I'd seen the band around that time with Mustaine at the Whisky. This student--not a kid, but a very young adult--wasn't even born yet.

good album even though it skips through the entire 2nd side for no apparent reason, it's as clean as you can get with a used record & there's no scratches or anything

Radio was his medium. He didn't want to work on studio pieces, to the consternation of his bandmates.
