I kinda love that when looking up the word obstinate (because one must double-check), this is the definition & real-life example that was the top hit... "stubbornly refusing to change one's opinion or chosen course of action, despite attempts to persuade one to do so: "her obstinate determination to pursue a career in radio""

Reflecting back to my youth; NYC area
Radio played most (if not all?) this disco stuff. Being a developing music obsessive by 12-15 (1977-1980) was hearing all the goodies. Went straight from Kiss, Yes, Tull, Aerosmith, LedZep,
Heart, etc - into the punk/post-punk/new wave frenzy. Yet, what I am sliding towards is the natural exposure to the post disco era punk-funk hybrid!
- thru Material (bill laswell) got hipped to Nona Hendryx which led to discovering the quirky Ze Record label. Etc etc. of course Blondie opened-up boundaries as well. After seeing Saturday Night Fever & Thank God it’s Friday simultaneously to being immersed in Blondie, Talking Heads, Police, Squeeze, Devo, The Clash, public image ltd, Kraftwerk; as a kid I wasn’t sure where my musical allegiances stood. I soon realized one could just Love & appreciate it All. (Despite fads and grade school clicks). By the time grandmaster flash wheels of steel, funky four +1 more, those 2 original SUGARHILL label compilations were a revelation. (Still, to this day a must listen). Peech Boys, Brother D & Collective Effort, etc …Anyway, all that sent me back to CHIC (still my fave! of the disco era), & especially Donna Summer (freakin magnificent!). The other one that really turned people around was Diana Ross’s (Nile & Chic produced) 1980 album that is all-killer & no-filler to this day. Blah Yadda Blah.
I could reminisce on this stuff for days.
Thanks for allowing me to ramble-on. 🙏 😊 🕊️

Probably missed ya - (had to step away) & also immersed with my own rambling typing. Indeed - love to hear more about the lil side scenes that weren’t huge - yet definitely insidiously influential on the larger scenes as hipsters were attending, scouting & borrowing & soaking everything up.
