sorcerer was billed as friedkin's follow up to the exorcist, which it ain't. the trailer is edited to make the truck look like it's an evil spirit.

Listener Robert:

The novel of "The Manchurian Candidate" was even better, with a lot of laughs, including stuff they couldn't put on the screen in those days. "Lost" was largely based on it, believe it or not.

Wages of Fear was the original. I think Sorcerer was the name of the truck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm

they WERE connected eventually, all in south america!

On "Lost" when they refer to someone as a possible "candidate", it's the Manchurian kind that they mean. They never tell you that explicitly, but you can figure it out.

Casino Royale was a good remake.

OK. I haven't seen that one, but it's GOT to be better than the first theatric one, which I guess you can say was a remake of sorts of the teleplay.

Exactly! Why remake any move shot for shot, unless it's a student exercise? But I understand the Psycho remake had a little more from the book too, and a hilarious parody of the Hitchcock cameo.

The caller is dead wrong about the AMC Interview With A Vampire series, by the way...it's very good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am
ultradamno:

As for remakes, aside from True Grit (which arguably has little to do with the earlier movie, but is it's own, more faithful adaptations), I would say The Five Obstructions
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am
ultradamno:

On the movies you might want to see remade, I would say Under The Skin...I like where Glazer went with his movie, but he also gutted, what do you call it? THE WHOLE POINT of the novel...and that might be worth someone taking a crack at....
