Ikaria is where Greek stashed all it's communists and subversives after WWII. Ikaria is remote and dusty. They thought it would be a hardscrabble hellscape. It turns out Ikaria is one of the world's six "Blue Zones" where people live long, unusually healthy lives.

When I was a kid in the 80s it was filled with all sorts of shops, including a record store that only sold Greek music. Ikaria is where Greek stashed all it's communists and subversives after WWII. Ikaria is remote and dusty. They thought it would be a hardscrabble hellscape. It turns out Ikaria is one of the world's six "Blue Zones" where people live long, unusually healthy lives.
