We'd go and inventory cubicles, etc. for re installation before it was moved. So I'm walking through these empty office buildings outside DC, and there's one guy still working. They missed firing him, and kept paying him for like 3-4 months. So he kept going in. Like friggin Milton from Office Space.

	1:29pm egould: I'm a collateral analyst. I'm contracted by banks to assess the quality of the collateral (accounts receivable, inventory, equipment) that supports a line of credit. I audit borrowing companies' financials, analyze A/R, inventory, A/P and cash. I conduct a series of tests, primarily to match the value of collateral as stated on the financials, but also to detect fraud. Industries I specialize in include auto dealerships/fleet leasing/financing, agriculture (apples, hops, hay), breweries/wineries, and aerospace. Engagements generally take two weeks to complete. I present my findings and recommendations in a 20 page report, with accompanying workbook with testing, financial analysis, etc. I have to travel for about 20% of the audits. I enjoy what I do.

And, "Chimp Crazy" is like a slow moving accident that you see, must look away from but return to moments later because it pulls you in. It is deeply disturbing, but quite good. Heartbreaking, yes but provokes thoughts and explores ethical questions that deserve attention.

It was literally the equivalent of "walking around money" -- like a short stack of singles in your pocket -- for coffee etc. The Roman Legion already provided soldier's basic needs -- food, armor, etc. "Salarium" was a stipend that soldiers got for anything else that wasn't part of their standard "kit" -- anything from the cost of sending a message back home to local brothels/goods and food vendors outside the garrison, etc.

I can't even have aspartame because for anyone with a neurological issue it can be downright dangerous (plus I also think it tastes like crap). And yes, they put sugar and salt in EVERYTHING. I have a close friend who alas is slowly eating himself to death by not listening to his endocrinologist. He's 4 years younger than me but he looks 15 years older; he's on THREE different meds related to his diabetes. I actually had a huge argument with him where he insisted that (for example) canned green beans are NOT as good for you as frozen. As in I literally marched his butt down to the supermarket and physically held up a can of green beans and right there on the label -- after "green beans" the 2nd ingredient was water, followed by...sugar, salt, and stabilizers. One can had 25% of the USRDA of salt! The frozen stuff was....just frozen green beans. Full stop. And my friend is an educated guy! PS yes fresh is the best but I always keep frozen veg around for ramen, etc -- basically in the US stuff gets harvested, washed, and flash frozen in the field typically no more than 15 minutes after it's picked.

I mean, if you go to any other civilized nation, their canned goods don't have all that crap added. I mean, during COVID and my Mom's illness (and pretty much 95% of the time now) I cooked 100% from scratch and only bought stuff like bread and even that was from a local bakery. Sitting on my ass in front of a computer for 14 hours a day but NOT eating all the steam table shit that I had to live on for lunch when I worked in Manhattan...I still lost about 20 lbs and went down a size and a half. ONLY change was diet, and in fact because of not having a commute I actually walk LESS now. And I STILL lost the weight. Only change was pretty much eliminating ALL processed food except for condiments, and even in those cases I'm pretty damn picky. That's why I am still SO shocked that Coke Float Oreos hit me THAT hard. As in "first time smoking real legit weed after not having had any since college" HARD.

PS I outweigh him by a good 35lbs BUT I look MUCH less chubby. He keeps going on how he's "losing weight" but he's actually just losing muscle mass -- he gets tired if he stands more than 20 minutes and gets winded after 2 blocks of regular speed walking. It's heartbreaking, but he just won't listen. Sorry to vent about this but I'm sure almost everyone has a friend/family member who just won't get with the program. He's started to have tiny burst blood vessles in his eyes, and he INSISTS it's not the diabetes (and he doctor shopped to hear this). He's in my field. This is the friend who pulled my ass out of the fire career-wise when I was really flailing, out of unemployment, and had less than $150 in the bank. And now I can't do a fucking thing to help HIM. He almost lost a leg a few years back (they were able to patch in veins from his arm and other leg) and he STILL didn't get with the program.

I have a close friend who alas is slowly eating himself to death by not listening to his endocrinologist. He's 4 years younger than me but he looks 15 years older; he's on THREE different meds related to his diabetes. I actually had a huge argument with him where he insisted that (for example) canned green beans are NOT as good for you as frozen. As in I literally marched his butt down to the supermarket and physically held up a can of green beans and right there on the label -- after "green beans" the 2nd ingredient was water, followed by...sugar, salt, and stabilizers. One can had 25% of the USRDA of salt! The frozen stuff was....just frozen green beans. Full stop. And my friend is an educated guy! PS yes fresh is the best but I always keep frozen veg around for ramen, etc -- basically in the US stuff gets harvested, washed, and flash frozen in the field typically no more than 15 minutes after it's picked.

ONLY change was diet, and in fact because of not having a commute I actually walk LESS now. And I STILL lost the weight. Fun fact: ONE turkey liver from a commercial bird has a clinical dose of DES in it. Outlawed for human use but A-OK to get those Butterballs to pack on weight like a freaking sumo wrestler. My Mom, may she rest in peace, stopped making chopped liver except for 1 or 2x a year because of this. www.cancer.gov...

PS I outweigh him by a good 35lbs BUT I look MUCH less chubby. He keeps going on how he's "losing weight" but he's actually just losing muscle mass -- he gets tired if he stands more than 20 minutes and gets winded after 2 blocks of regular speed walking. It's heartbreaking, but he just won't listen. Sorry to vent about this but I'm sure almost everyone has a friend/family member who just won't get with the program. He's started to have tiny burst blood vessles in his eyes, and he INSISTS it's not the diabetes (and he doctor shopped to hear this). He's in my field. This is the friend who pulled my ass out of the fire career-wise when I was really flailing, out of unemployment, and had less than $150 in the bank. And now I can't do a fucking thing to help HIM. He almost lost a leg a few years back (they were able to patch in veins from his arm and other leg) and he STILL didn't get with the program.
