What I always say when you spotlight Mike Cooper :
One has a special appreciation of & admiration for Avant Artists who create their own palettes
...yet my own aptitudes are for, & what I've invested all my time in is being a Gittarhead rooted mostly in Rawk & Blues-based forms ...like about a billion you're likely to strike if you swing a dead cat...
MikeCooper obvsly & eminently illustrates being both & all of these @ once - ably, without contradiction & with complete success
...& if I cannot realistically aspire to this myself - it @ least makes the bifurcation in my head less total & schizophrenic...

I am going to listen to this again later for Mike's book recos.! That last That Guyanese book sounds incredible. There's a great book my Mario V. Llosa called The Storyteller that describes, embodies the mind of a man as he transforms into a member of an unacculturated tribemenber in Peru's jungle (I had to go find the book and am using some of the descriptive language from the back). I enjoyed Middlemarch way more than I expected. I don't get to read much these days (public transit troubles driving me crazy)

Fantastic show! Loved the interview and deep dive through Mike Cooper's music. I'd just had a passing familiarity of his work til now.
Thanks so much!

Yes, a much better description (I actually believe in my heart that this is paradise, the natural Earth, disregarding humankind's transgressions)
