I begged Gary not to mess around with piano tunings, but he is so reckless. I hope he is ok.
  7:32pm
Listener Gregory:

@doctorj, I thought of you yesterday. I came across a pack of low-sodium latkes. I looked at the sodium level, expecting to find virtually none. Instead it was like 380 mg, or as I would call this, high sodium! Are latkes supposed to be so salty??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
Gary:

↳ WR @7:29
Weird -- maybe try the pop-up?
  7:33pm
mic_a:

Well... I guess we're running silent and deep. I am purposefully not looking things up, but my perception of quarter-tone piano is that the Middle Eastern system is a different thing from the Western contemporary classical approach. The former is more like the blues maybe? More about a certain vocal-based expressiveness?

The New Sounds stream is a bit repetitive and verges on the easy listening too much. They have gotten rid of anything that might be too outside. John Schaffer's shows are usually pretty good, though, and I hear Irene credited there sometimes.

Everyone probably realizes this, but the Keiko Higuchi cut seems to be an improvisation followed by the song Manha da Carnaval, which is from the film Black Orpheus. It had life in the English language as Day in the Life of a Fool. The Frank Sinatra version is a bit different from this.
