Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

I didn't ponder that one at all although I should have. Seeing as I have most of those recordings repackaged from the two-fer era. But I love that stuff so much: 1950s mainstream dixie/swing...

Sorry DJ Peter, I have zero expertise in the Sherry domain. My gran used to use a lot of "cooking sherry" when she was making Sunday dinner, which served to improve her mood more than those of us eating her output. Closest I can come is a preference for the whiskies of Scotland that are aged in sherry casks, of which Glenfarclas is my favorite.

You're the visual artist! I defer to you! (I will say: northguineahills made me take a second look at Bruno Råberg's Evolver.)

This is funny: Satoko Fujii penned the notes for this album and reports that Tamura's first gig was while he was still in high school, playing in a Kyoto "negligee salon." Sounds like a sweet gig for a teenager. (I think a "negligee salon" was basically a club and pretty girls sat with you and no doubt got you to buy more expensive liquor)
