A physics joke from Alexandra Petri in Washington Post: Heisenberg, Schrödinger, and Ohm are on a road trip, and they get pulled over. Heisenberg is driving and the cop asks him, “Do you know how fast you were going?” “No, but I know exactly where I am” Heisenberg replies. The cop says “You were going 80 miles an hour.” Heisenberg throws up his hands and shouts “Great! Now I’m lost!” The cop thinks this is suspicious and orders him to pop open the trunk. He checks it out and says “Do you know you have a dead cat back here?” “We do now, jerk!” shouts Schrödinger. The cop tries to arrest them.
Ohm resists.

If somebody corrects your grammar/usage (out loud; I typically note them only in my head), this knock knock joke tossed at Stephen Fry after he dinged someone on a panel quiz show can be a good follow-up:

- To.

Nice, I recently got the bio of him by Szwed, there are some small photos of Smith's artwork, much better than the designs that were in the notes for the Anthology would lead one to expect. His paintings of jazz performances are extraordinary.

I was once told by Harvey Bialy, a pal of Harry Smith's, that Harry would've loved my radio show. True or not, I've always treasured that comment. (Even though it came from Bialy who turned out to be a radical molecular biologist and vile AIDS denialist.)

There was an exhibition a few years back at the Barbican in London. There were some of Harry Smith's artworks there & some Edward Kienholz. The Beanery is a wonderment. It was made to look down at heal & a few years ago the museum in Amsterdam took it away to make some repairs & tidy it up which I found rather chucklesome.
